knit sanctuary

Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Sometimes you plan out the perfect yarn for the perfect pattern, and the whole thing comes out as inspiring as a Hefty bag. Other times, an amazing project seams to materialize in your lap without any thanks to planning or forethought. This is a story of one of the latter experiences. In the Prism colorway. I did not want to take these pretty colors and splotch them all up in poorly planned pooling. On Ravelry, I like to browse patterns by what's Hot Right Now. Or what is g...

knit sanctuary: Late summer round up: Antrho knock-off, Carthamus shawl, M6744

http://knitsanctuary.blogspot.com/2013/09/late-summer-round-up-antrho-knock-off.html

Monday, September 9, 2013. Late summer round up: Antrho knock-off, Carthamus shawl, M6744. While it feels like I get no. thing. done. all day long, my FO pictures tell me I've at least been plodding along in the sewing and knitting departments. I really want to stick these up on the blog so I can move on to some WIPs. I'm very chronological like that. So first up:. This is the Carthamus shawl. From Through the Loops designs. The yarn is Louet Gems Fingering. Just imagine it there. While not ideal, these ...

knit sanctuary: Use the good china: Thurlow trousers

http://knitsanctuary.blogspot.com/2013/08/use-good-china-thurlow-trousers.html

Friday, August 9, 2013. Use the good china: Thurlow trousers. When I was little, we had dinner on fine china every night. My mom loved the china they'd received for their wedding, so we used it. We had thick, heavy white dishes that we used for breakfast and lunch, but dinners were served on graceful, thin plates. Mom's china pattern - Source. One of these patterns I really wanted to make was the Thurlow trousers. I had so much fun picking the pocket lining, turning welt pockets, figuring out all the mec...

knit sanctuary: August 2013

http://knitsanctuary.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 17, 2013. I might be the only knitter in history who is a bit ambivalent about baby knits. (Although I have something on the needles at the moment that may change my mind.) To me, it seems like a lot of fuss and finishing, and not as much time just knitting. So as we were packing up our old house and getting ready to move, I kept working on this sweet little summer dress for Little A, who is three. It was the perfect thing to knock out in a few spare minutes during those hectic weeks.

knit sanctuary: Not an early adopter

http://knitsanctuary.blogspot.com/2013/09/not-early-adopter.html

Monday, September 2, 2013. Not an early adopter. Guess what I just discovered? I know. It's probably old news for most people. But hey, I'm getting there. I've also heard they have these new things called cell phones and you can carry them around in your purse or pocket and make calls from anywhere? So if you're on Instagram, come look me up! I'm mgrknits. Eventually I'll figure out how to get a badge over there on the side bar. Hopefully before we're all driving driverless cars. View my complete profile.

knit sanctuary: March 2013

http://knitsanctuary.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 28, 2013. FO: A couple of baby blankets. I think this baby is going to be here soon. Fortunately, I think we're as ready as we can be. And slightly less importantly, I've finished most of the projects I set out for myself for the baby and our daughter. In the last week, I finished up two blankets, one knit and one sewn. I originally set out to make the High Fidoodlity blanket. But it was just ugly. So instead I went with the Chevron Baby Blanket. Monday, March 25, 2013. I always feel like...

Buckingham Road: Cordova jacket.

http://buckinghamroad.blogspot.com/2012/11/cordova-jacket_27.html

Tuesday, November 27, 2012. After keeping this secret for almost two months I am so excited that I can finally show you my Cordova Jacket. Happy with how it turned out. It looks dressy and casual at the same time, know what I mean? Also, my husbands comment was "you could buy that in a store". always a nice compliment (do other people say that to you as a form of compliment when you make something? So without further ado, here is my version of the Sewaholic's latest pattern, the Cordova jacket. I promise...

knit's a living....

Or how I learned to stop worrying and love to knit. Sunday, March 7, 2010. Still not done…. I finished the socks, but have really surprised myself by making them too big. I blindly followed the instructions and didn’t consider how long my feet (or other average feet) actually are. Dumb. I am really getting my money’s worth out of this Happy Feet yarn (very nice, BTW). So this morning I will rip back one of the toes and re-do. Shouldn’t take long. Links to this post. Thursday, March 4, 2010. And the Colum...

Knits and Ass | We have Boat Drinks.

We have Boat Drinks. About Knits and Ass. January 29, 2016. Well well. Have I really skipped the entire year of 2015 without posting once? You would think I would have something to show for it – more money, a new person in my life, another excellent hobby – but no. Just same old me doing the same old stuff. Not especially, if you look at the FOs – mittens, throws, lots of hats. But if you look at the yarn, my objective is clear: get. rid. of. all. that. fucking. yarn. Check out the new website on Debbie!
