We arrived in Barcelona on October 18 on a train from Montpelier, France. We spent 4 days in Barcelona before flying to Morocco. On October 29, we returned to Spain, and spent our final week in the Andulicia province. We visited Seville, Granada and Cordoba before flying home from Madrid on November 7.

We arrived in Beijing on March 15 where we spent 3 days before heading south to Xian and then the Yunnan province. In Yunnan, we spent time in Kunming, Dali, Lijiang and Zhongdian before flying to Tokyo on March 31.

We arrived in Laos on March 2, and will spend 5 days in Luang Prabang, including a day trip to Kuang Si and a boat trip on the Mekong River. Laos gave us an opportunity to see traditional life in Southeast Asia - the country is relatively untouched by tourism, and is still very poor. We found our time here fascinating. We left Laos on March 7 for Bangkok.

We arrived in Switzerland in July 21, driving from Chamonix to Grindelwald. Grindelwald is in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland, and has wonderful hiking in the summer. Steve and Paula had been in Grindelwald during their honeymoon in 1982, and we were eager to return. We departed Grindelwald and headed for Bavaria in Germany on July 24, after two wonderful days of hiking in the Swiss Alps. We'll definitely return to Switzerland again someday!

We arrived in New Zealand on January 12, and spent a wonderful 3 weeks mostly exploring the South Island. We found New Zealand to be the most beautiful country we've ever visited, with its wonderful mountains, rain forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife. The people here are very friendly and genuine, and helped make us feel very welcome. We departed New Zealand on January 30, flying to Cairns, Australia.
