Undefined Value: Kris Johnson's Blog. The unfocused rantings of a programmer who wishes he knew a better way to make a living. Wednesday, December 31, 2003. I spend a lot of time in front of reflective surfaces (computer monitors and my TV), and so I occasionally catch a glimpse of myself when I don't mean to look at myself. Before I realize who I am looking at, my first impression is often that the guy looks pretty dull-witted, tired, and unhappy. I hope that's not how others see me. Ultimately, that's ...

Undefined Value: Kris Johnson's Blog. The unfocused rantings of a programmer who wishes he knew a better way to make a living. Monday, February 23, 2009. For most of my computer-using life, I haven't had to worry too much about the security of my computers and networks. I always had physical control of the machines. I had passwords on the accounts. I use WEP and WPA on my wi-fi. Best of all, I never had anything very valuable on the machines. Posted by Kris Johnson @ 2/23/2009 09:54:00 PM. I work as a so...

Undefined Value: Kris Johnson's Blog. The unfocused rantings of a programmer who wishes he knew a better way to make a living. Tuesday, February 03, 2009. I've decided to give Twitter. A try So far, I'm not too impressed. It's essentially just a bunch of tiny RSS feeds that update very frequently. In other words, it makes the Internet an even bigger waste of time. But, as with everything Internet-related, the joy is finding the occasional gem within all the muck. Comments: Post a Comment. More of My Stuff.

Undefined Value: Kris Johnson's Blog. The unfocused rantings of a programmer who wishes he knew a better way to make a living. Sunday, May 16, 2004. I bought an iPod mini yesterday. Newton's laws of motion as applied to me. General Aviation focused journal, recounting the process of learning to fly and of achieving the private pilots license. Monday, August 29, 2005. Lesson 33, Thruxton Solo. Today was the day for the Thruxton solo flight, I wake up this morning feeling optimistic as the weather outside looked good with clear blue skies and calm wind. I looked at the time and realised I had to be getting back so I quickly finished the coke and headed back out. After start-up I taxie...

Newton's laws of motion as applied to me. General Aviation focused journal, recounting the process of learning to fly and of achieving the private pilots license. Wednesday, May 03, 2006. Posting this a little after the event due to time constraints in the past couple of days. Monday was May day and therefore a public holiday, so we decided to head to Cornwall, this time to visit a WWII airfield called Perranporth which was hosting a fly-in and BBQ for pilots and the public. We had missed the BBQ sadly a...

Newton's laws of motion as applied to me. General Aviation focused journal, recounting the process of learning to fly and of achieving the private pilots license. Wednesday, May 03, 2006. IMC Training and ferry flight. After a short while I was vectored on to the approach for Denham and was allowed to remove my hood as we crossed the lakes on base. We stopped and picked up Nigel and then departed back to Blackbushe, again under the hood. More of the same stuff on the way. Finally we descended below the c...

Therefore I think the IMC rating, whilst limited is probably the only option for me right now, at least until the CAA bring in a world wide recognised IR for private pilots rather than us having to either study to ATPL standards or look to the US FAA. Newton's laws of motion as applied to me. General Aviation focused journal, recounting the process of learning to fly and of achieving the private pilots license. Thursday, July 27, 2006. My IMC training is completed albeit the final skills test which is scheduled for next Wednesday, which I am half excited about and half dreading. The IMC has proved to be an exacting course but enjoyable and has improved the accuracy of my flying enormously. Posted by Chris @ Thursday, July 27, 2006. Isle of Wight again.

Newton's laws of motion as applied to me. General Aviation focused journal, recounting the process of learning to fly and of achieving the private pilots license. Sunday, April 30, 2006. On the spur of the moment I decided to go flying again yesterday, the weather was beautiful so figured I couldn't let it go to waste. I called a couple of friends of ours, Mike and his wife Vicky and asked if they wanted to come along. They did so we all met up and headed to Blackbushe. Nice way to spend an evening.

The aircraft to ferry was another AA5 although this time the more powerful 180hp AA5-B 'Tiger', which I have limited time on (read two hours).
