Children are Like Snowflakes: Not a Helicopter Mom, A Parachute Mom
http://misstj9.blogspot.com/2011/02/not-helicopter-mom-parachute-mom.html
Children are Like Snowflakes. The Life and Times of a Mom of 3 Children. Wednesday, February 9, 2011. Not a Helicopter Mom, A Parachute Mom. Are you familiar with the term "helicopter parent"? Helicopter parents are so named because, like helicopters they hover closely overhead, rarely out of reach, whether their children need them or not. It is also called "overparenting". Parents try to resolve their child's problems, and try to stop them coming to harm by keeping them out of dangerous situations.

Children are Like Snowflakes: July 2010
http://misstj9.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Children are Like Snowflakes. The Life and Times of a Mom of 3 Children. Thursday, July 29, 2010. Week 1 of t-ball was in mid- June, while we were camping. Oh well. It wasn't very expensive to sign them up, so I wasn't too upset we were missing one. Week 2 of t-ball was canceled due to standing water on the playing field! Yes, we had a good amount of rain in mid-June but I was sad that this was the case. So we had our own t-ball practice in the backyard, and I think the boys had a good time! So instead o...

Children are Like Snowflakes: June 2010
http://misstj9.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Children are Like Snowflakes. The Life and Times of a Mom of 3 Children. Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Sunday we got back from our annual 5 day camping trip. This year we tried somewhere new, hubby's theory is that there are SO many places in this world, why would you keep going to the same ones, no matter how great they are. So this year we headed to a state park just south of Muskegon, MI. Not too long of a drive, and we planned the trip so we avoided rush hour (for the most part! They would say to each othe...

Children are Like Snowflakes. The Life and Times of a Mom of 3 Children. Sunday, August 22, 2010. Bucket List Part Deux. Just after my Bucket List post, I read an article in a parenting magazine, "Savor the Last Drops of Summer". Basically, a list of things you should manage to do this summer. Many we did, many we did not. So now a "Bucket List 2011" of all the things we didn't do this year:. Visit the seashore (we did make it to a lakeshore this year). Lie in a hammock. Jump off a diving board.

Children are Like Snowflakes: PTOs and Play-dates
http://misstj9.blogspot.com/2011/01/ptos-and-play-dates.html
Children are Like Snowflakes. The Life and Times of a Mom of 3 Children. Tuesday, January 25, 2011. It's a parenting rite of passage I guess, and I'm just getting thrown in and figuring this all out - or trying to at least. I should really get involved and find out what's going on around there. But once I'm part of the board and the committees. then what? How does it change so that more people are aware and involved? On the other topic (sorry, no logical or entertaining segue's here! Trevor got invited t...

Children are Like Snowflakes: The little girl who demanded....
http://misstj9.blogspot.com/2011/02/little-girl-who-demanded.html
Children are Like Snowflakes. The Life and Times of a Mom of 3 Children. Monday, February 7, 2011. The little girl who demanded. Tonight after dinner, Trev took a shower. Nothing remarkable in that. He went and did most of the work himself, and came downstairs in his jammies with wet hair, ready to play Wii. Again, nothing remarkable. Blake and Iz are waiting down on the couch, Wii remotes in hand. Daddy turns on the Wii, and Izzy runs for the stairs. Now that's remarkable! She grabbed a crayon and climb...

Children are Like Snowflakes: April 2010
http://misstj9.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Children are Like Snowflakes. The Life and Times of a Mom of 3 Children. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. I sometimes wonder if life would be easier without friends. Today's trip to the mall, completely. Unnecessary. I didn't NEED anything, I didn't need to go, but why not? What would it hurt? That's a lot of not being a kid! At the same time, kids need to learn to use manners and sit still and to act appropriately in public. But they can only handle so much of this before they need to let off steam and play!

Sometimes I wonder which one of them likes it more! Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Izzy is 17 months! She's almost 1 and 1/2! No, she can't ride the tricycle yet, but don't tell HER that! Words she can say:. Dada (at least sometimes, many times she calls him mama too! Up-y (as in, "pick me up-y"). Thank you (more like tank-u). The toys, the slid...
