Auguries of Innocence: October 2008
http://captainjolli.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 26, 2008. I've been pondering a lot lately on the importance of love for one's self. Once or twice I've heard it said that a man cannot love anyone else without first loving himself. Until recently, I hadn't given the idea much consideration. And now I think I've figured out why it is that self-love is so essential in the romantic equation. It should, of course, be our desire to pursue a better way for ourselves. The Atonement exists so that we can improve ourselves and be a little mo...

Auguries of Innocence: February 2009

Thursday, February 19, 2009. A Little Lecture I Never Want to Lose. Sometimes, a truly remarkable friend says something you just know you never want to forget. Here's one such gem now:. Mood: Warm fuzzies inside. Rory: "It wasn't a tackle. It was strictly hands.". Me: "Yes. Your hands on my body.". An argument over Rory fouling me during Ultimate Frisbee. Music: "And So It Goes," Billy Joel. Friday, February 13, 2009. For the Longest Time. This isn't where I planned on going with this topic. Subscribe to...

Auguries of Innocence: It's Time To Be A Big Girl Now
http://captainjolli.blogspot.com/2009/08/its-time-to-be-big-girl-now.html
Wednesday, August 12, 2009. It's Time To Be A Big Girl Now. I've spent the last year of my life tucked within the folds of a security blanket. I have allowed that blanket to keep me from stepping outside of what is safe and familiar, and I have also used it as an excuse. This is my farewell to my own exhausted security blanket as I step out into a much broader playground, seeking for new games and new mates to play them with. I'm finally ready to leave the blanket behind. View my complete profile.

Auguries of Innocence: The Giver

It's easy to see the correlation in this fictional world between safety and ignorance. No one ever imagines there could be more to the world than the tiny function they have been taught to carry out as part of the society. They have no knowledge of anything else. Where would they have gained it? Why can't we have colors? How very much it matters!

Auguries of Innocence: Waking Nightmares
http://captainjolli.blogspot.com/2009/04/waking-nightmares.html
Thursday, April 2, 2009. And yet it happened. And it wasn't in someone's warped dream world where it makes sense for your best friend to be an android or for you to get pregnant from eating potato chips. This nightmare happened in the waking world. More than once. How is that possible? Mood: Awake. right? Music: "The Sound of White," Missy Higgins. Auguries of Innocence: April 2008
http://captainjolli.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 29, 2008. I really hope my future first born is a boy. I think every first born should be a boy, in fact. Why is that? Because every girl deserves to have a big brother. I have other friends as well that'll tease me the same way, or offer to beat up the guys who upset me for whatever reason. (Not that I'd ever let them do it. . () It's nice feeling important like that. It's fun being able to adopt new 'big brothers.'. Music - "Wonderful," Everclear. Sunday, April 27, 2008. I need a babysit...

Auguries of Innocence: High On A Mountain Top
http://captainjolli.blogspot.com/2009/08/high-on-mountain-top.html
Thursday, August 6, 2009. High On A Mountain Top. Last Saturday, I went on a hike with my friend Sir Tim. Our intent was to hike up to the top of a hill, have a picnic dinner, let the sun go down, then stargaze. (A plan I was particularly agreeable to, since I love showing off and I know enough constellations to do just that. ). One step at a time.: November 2010

One step at a time. Monday, November 15, 2010. Everyone who is anyone at BYU knows who Brother Bott is. He has a blog now! At the start of his mission prep class he would do a question answer session. I haven't gotten a chance to look too closely, but that's essentially what his blog is. So if you're interested, check it out! Wednesday, November 10, 2010. At times, it crawls. You never think an hour/day/month/semester will end. Then the next thing you know, you have no idea where the time went. 3 Thursda...
