Labyrinthitis - How to Cope
http://labyrinthitis.org.uk/cope.htm
An article from VEDA's "On the level" magazine (Vol.21, No 4) says:. This ties in with the above. As well as the invisible nature of this being a big factor when it comes to sympathy/support from others, the chronic nature of it also has a lot do with this. People simply can't believe you can be ill for so long with such minimal improvement (we often can't believe it either! We have tended to rely on each other for support and this is why sites such as this, are so important. Unless they have experie...
Labyrinthitis - Symptoms
http://labyrinthitis.org.uk/page3.htm
Different kind' of dizziness. As discussed, Inner ear dizziness is different to the normal dizziness most people have experienced at some point in their lives. With Uncompensated Labyrinthitis, there are generally a host of symptoms rather than a couple. Not only does the patient feel dizzy but the world looks very different to how it did. Ear symptoms are commonly noted as are others such as problems with memory and fatigue. If very intense, this dizziness can lead to a feeling of extreme faintness.
Labyrinthitis - I know someone who's dizzy
http://labyrinthitis.org.uk/knowsum1.htm
You know someone who has been diagnosed with inner ear dysfunction as a result of Labyrinthitis? From reading this website and from talking to the dizzy person, you will have realised that this disorder is one of a kind in so many ways. Add to this tiredness, nausea, "brain fog" and ear symptoms! Oh, and not to mention the depression, anxiety, isolation, frustration. Recognise when they need professional help. Encourage them to talk about their feelings. Explain they are not abnormal for being de...Prais...
Labyrinthitis - Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy
http://labyrinthitis.org.uk/vrt.htm
Dizzy patients avoid moving around too much as it simply makes them feel horrible. This infact can lead to further problems as the brain needs to be able to correct the faulty signals which are being passed from the inner ear. To do this, the dizzy person has to try and do things including different head positions, however difficult. According to Gans, R (2003) Theoretically, central compensation should occur within 90 days following dysfunction or loss of one of the vestibular systems. But many lesi...

I'm dizzy, therefore I am. About me and this blog. Tales from dizzy land. Back to the beginning…. October 15, 2014. Before I start I think I should be honest. I’m a bit of a hippy at heart, so everything I write should be viewed through that lens…. Unsurprisingly, I went to the doctor. He told me I had labyrinthitis. Nine weeks later I was still spinning and found myself at outpatients. After a bunch of tests nothing else was found and a brilliant ophthalmologist explained that my brain was working o...

Beyond Dizzy: A journey with chronic dizziness. From despair to diagnosis, treatment and, ultimately, adaptation. (Formerly known as Dizzytimes.co.uk). Friday, 19 July 2013. I talked about a change in approach to my vestibular rehabilitation. Compared to my. First round of rehab. And the way to get better from it. Perhaps, but I wasn’t aware of Chronic Subjective Dizziness. CSD has gradually come into focus since the terminology was first coined circa 2000. Studies on CSD build on the work into postur...

I'm dizzy, therefore I am. About me and this blog. Tales from dizzy land. Retreat(ing) and the dizzy-anxiety continuum. October 29, 2014. One of the worst facets about being dizzy for me, is anxiety. Now, don’t misunderstand me, it’s not that labyrinthitis causes me to feel anxious; it doesn’t have some kind of access to my anxiety-ometer that it ramps up when I’m looking the other way. Instead there is a process that happens for me that goes something like this…. And on and on it goes. And the more I.
