My Abruzzo Home: 2011
http://myabruzzohome.blogspot.com/p/2011.html
Abruzzo is a wonderful region full of natural beauty and history. I hope my pictures and thoughts here will help everyone to appreciate it! Reading through the last 6 pages I realise just how much and yet how little we have achieved! It seems that initialy I was over confident about the rate of progress we'd make when we are only spending 4 -8 weeks each year in italy. When we began in 2005 the exchange rate was £1 to 1.50 euros! Things could only get better - the house in 2005. In total contrast to the ...

Abruzzo is a wonderful region full of natural beauty and history. I hope my pictures and thoughts here will help everyone to appreciate it! Saturday, 4 July 2015. We like limewash because its cheap, natural and doesn't cause dangerous fumes. We make it on site from well matured lime putty adding water to putty in a 1.5 to 2 part ratio. This is someone limewashing a wall on a SPAB. Work day in an old church -thank goodness my walls are not that high! Limewash changes according to the light. I like lots of ...

My Abruzzo Home: 2009
http://myabruzzohome.blogspot.com/p/2009.html
Abruzzo is a wonderful region full of natural beauty and history. I hope my pictures and thoughts here will help everyone to appreciate it! I drove out to Italy this year for the first time and it was certainly an experience! The vechicle I 'chose' was a clapped out Berlingo van that had difficulties going at over 50 mph so it took 3 days for me to finally arrive in Abruzzo shaken by earth tremors and battered by howling gales! Out with the blasting. To match the old mortar which was very white and hard;...

My Abruzzo Home: Stone Step
http://myabruzzohome.blogspot.com/2015/07/stone-step.html
Abruzzo is a wonderful region full of natural beauty and history. I hope my pictures and thoughts here will help everyone to appreciate it! Saturday, 4 July 2015. I've written before about the relative low cost of having steps, stairs, worktops etc made in Abruzzo. We needed a new step for our front door and another sill for an upstairs window as well as some odd pieces of stone around the place. Here is the area before the step was put in. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I like lots of things but most ...

My Abruzzo Home: 2012
http://myabruzzohome.blogspot.com/p/2012.html
Abruzzo is a wonderful region full of natural beauty and history. I hope my pictures and thoughts here will help everyone to appreciate it! Our plans are to extend the terrace to 4ms in front of the house so that we can put a table and chairs out to be in the early morning sunshine and shade in the afternoon. Our builder will make a breeze block wall to retain the soil then in front of this we'll build a drystone wall using the building stones around the garden. I'm sure that they just chucked it all in.

My Abruzzo Home: 2014
http://myabruzzohome.blogspot.com/p/2014_4.html
Abruzzo is a wonderful region full of natural beauty and history. I hope my pictures and thoughts here will help everyone to appreciate it! Bread Oven - getting plastered and rebuilding our old oven ready for use next summer! Oven nearly done -it just needs a floor of fire bricks set close onto sand. They used crushed charcoal in some floors but sand is finer and makes it easier to get the floor level. The other floors are more worn and don't have the same 'skin' of the kitchen floor.
