My Upward Facing Blog: May 2011
http://upwardfacingblog.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 5, 2011. It's OK if your shoes aren't doing it. A couple of months ago, a friend of mine posted the following You Tube video on Facebook: http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Entitled The Tragedy of First Position, an adorable toddler ballerina becomes so consumed by trying to get her feet in first position that she misses the entire rest of the dance. Funny how something as simple as a You Tube video can spark an epiphany. "Aha! Is what's wrong with my yoga practice! And walked home to an empty d...

My Upward Facing Blog: Why I Teach...
http://upwardfacingblog.blogspot.com/2012/08/why-i-teach.html
Monday, August 27, 2012. People to do such things. I live in sweats and spandex. Square hips, healthy sacrums, and perfectly "flointed" feet make me swoon. I am faced daily with the conundrum of trying to live simply and humbly as a yogi but having to constantly self-promote via Facebook, mass emails, etc. to make a good living. Day around. The yoga teacher-student relationship is one of the most trusting and mutually-respectful I have ever encountered. What greater gift is there, really?

My Upward Facing Blog: My Spin-Oga
http://upwardfacingblog.blogspot.com/2013/04/my-spin-oga_24.html
Wednesday, April 24, 2013. 8220;Sometimes my yoga is just a walk on the beach or reading a good book.” I distinctly remember Annie Carpenter uttering this sentence during my teacher training at Yoga Works in 2003. The words struck a chord in that moment, but I don’t think I fully understood what she meant until just recently. It was almost as if my mind identified it as advice that I would later need desperately. Enter Fit On. The spin place? Posted by Genevieve Pujalet. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

My Upward Facing Blog: March 2011
http://upwardfacingblog.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 22, 2011. A Weekend of Giving. Today is the Spring Equinox, and traditionally yogis across the globe ring in the new season with a ritual known as "Yoga Mala", the performing of 108 sun salutations. The Mala's repetitive movement leaves practitioners in an almost trance-like state, clearing the mind for meditation on intentions for the coming months. It is a Spring Cleaning of sorts perhaps more of a Spring Clearing. For the body and mind. How can I contribute? And who can I ask for help?

http://upwardfacingblog.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 2, 2012. I Heart NY.Even Its 'Housewives'. Me I'm in awe. So, I decided to read her book, What Remains. It's wonderful. Well-written, genuine, and tells a great story. I feel fortunate to have read several stellar books this year that have reminded me how much I love to read. What Remains. Reminded me that I also love to write. So, I am giving this blogging thing another go. Which leads me back to.the Real Housewives. You're killing brain cells! Anderson Cooper watches it, too, ya know!

My Upward Facing Blog: February 2013
http://upwardfacingblog.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 18, 2013. What is Yoga, Anyway? I walked into the bank to cash a check last week. A seemingly mindless errand. The bank teller explained that, according to new security guidelines, he needed me to state my occupation. After doing so, the teller replied, "Cool. They offer yoga at my school. I've been thinking about taking it, but what is it, exactly? Is it like Pilates? And what is Pilates? To me, that's yoga. What yoga is depends on what you're looking for. You see the dilemma. I have to...
