Lambethdaily: Day 14--Indaba Groups at Work

http://lambethdaily.blogspot.com/2008/08/day-14-indaba-groups-at-work.html

Commentary and Impressions by the Bishop of Arizona. Friday, August 1, 2008. Day 14- Indaba Groups at Work. One word that will certainly come out of this Conference is "indaba," that S. African word used to describe our daily conversation groups. Interesting.the Holy Spirit at work perhaps? August 1, 2008 at 10:57 AM. August 1, 2008 at 2:57 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Lambethdaily: Day 15--Finishing up

http://lambethdaily.blogspot.com/2008/08/day-15-finishing-up.html

Commentary and Impressions by the Bishop of Arizona. Saturday, August 2, 2008. Day 15- Finishing up. It is probably easier to say what did NOT come out [of Lambeth]; First, no schism! In the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit:. 2 We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Word of God written and to contain all things necessary for salvation. The Bible is to be translated, read, preached, taught and obeyed in its plain and canonical sense, respectfu...

Lambethdaily: July 2008

http://lambethdaily.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Commentary and Impressions by the Bishop of Arizona. Thursday, July 31, 2008. Day 13- Hitting a wall? Being by nature a pragmatist, I attended this session hoping to hear some concrete suggestions. But none were really forthcoming. The participants keep rehashing the same old positions- liberals stressing full inclusion now (no more moratoriums), conservatives wanting some firm definition of who is in and who is out (the Americans being out). The rancher responded simply, "We have wells.". The women bish...

Lambethdaily: Friday, con't

http://lambethdaily.blogspot.com/2008/08/friday-cont.html

Commentary and Impressions by the Bishop of Arizona. Friday, August 1, 2008. This discussion will continue tomorrow, but I am more optimistic than ever that we will leave with high level of agreement. We have begun to think about the trip home. We may need another suitcase for books. Let's see if I can find a good picture from the files to add some visual interest. We have read your blogs daily, rejoicing when there has been accord and hoping there will be when there has not. Ceridwen and Howard Merrick.

Tales from a Lambeth Steward: On the Windsor front...

http://alambethsteward.blogspot.com/2008/07/on-windsor-front.html

Tales from a Lambeth Steward. Monday, July 28, 2008. On the Windsor front. As stewards, we have some interesting opportunities. We are able to sit in on self-select sessions and hearings. I've had the opportunity to attend both hearings from the Windsor Continuation Committee as well as a session on an introduction to the Anglican Covenant for bishops held by three members of the Covenant Design Group ( Chew, Scully, and Nottage) and Tom Wright. To quote a few attendees, the whole thing was depressing.

Tales from a Lambeth Steward: Sadness and Frustration with the Inclusive Church Network

http://alambethsteward.blogspot.com/2008/08/anger-and-frustration-with-inclusive.html

Tales from a Lambeth Steward. Friday, August 1, 2008. Sadness and Frustration with the Inclusive Church Network. Its been a few days since I've written, and this is not the post I was hoping to write [I've since made edits since talking to members of the Inclusive Church Network] . Sometimes, I think they just don't get it. the rest of the time I know it. Press, get over it, this isn't your conference. In today's Lambeth Witness. Um, come again? Apartheid was used to keep people down, this system is used...

Tales from a Lambeth Steward: Closing Eucharist, Reception, and Moving Day

http://alambethsteward.blogspot.com/2008/08/closing-eucharist-reception-and-moving.html

Tales from a Lambeth Steward. Monday, August 4, 2008. Closing Eucharist, Reception, and Moving Day. Yesterday was a bit of whirlwind. After the closing plenary in which everyone said "good-bye" and the final draft of the Reflections were released, the buses left for Canterbury Cathedral for the closing Eucharist. After the service there was a reception complete with Big Band/ Swing music and plenty of dancing! An American Brother and Bishop Roskam, after she taught us how to Charleston! After we got off ...

Tales from a Lambeth Steward: Day in London (or the most bourgeois march I have ever attended)

http://alambethsteward.blogspot.com/2008/07/day-in-london-or-most-bourgeois-march-i.html

Tales from a Lambeth Steward. Saturday, July 26, 2008. Day in London (or the most bourgeois march I have ever attended). Thursday was the Conference "London Day." The day consisted of a "Walk of Witness," lunch at Lambeth Palace, and tea at Buckingham Palace, before taking the buses back to UKC. It was the day when the stewards had to get 1300 people onto 34 buses four times, three of which had to be done quickly. Luckily, I was not one of those stewards. During the march itself, which was to raise.

Tales from a Lambeth Steward: Youth Retreat

http://alambethsteward.blogspot.com/2008/08/youth-retreat-photos-to-be-added-later.html

Tales from a Lambeth Steward. Friday, August 8, 2008. I was only able to attend the first day and a half of the three day youth retreat. The retreat was organized by the chaplains of University of Kent at Canterbury and Canterbury Christ Church University. It was organized to give us an opportunity to reflect on the past few weeks, relax, and get to know the Canterbury area and its history. The first day began with reflections with Archbishop Rowan. We gathered in one of the classrooms and really. He tol...

As Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that all who trust in him may know eternal life.". Tuesday, July 22, 2008. St Mary Magdalene - July 22nd. Today is the feast day of Mary Magdalene, a woman from modern-day Migdal in northern Israel. Sometimes referred to as "the Madeleine," mystery and confusion surround her life. According to Western church tradition, she is the "sinful woman," the sister of Lazarus out of whom. Gitimate," and yet Jesus commissioned her.

Tales from a Lambeth Steward: The last few days...

http://alambethsteward.blogspot.com/2008/08/last-few-days.html

Tales from a Lambeth Steward. Friday, August 1, 2008. The last few days. The last few days of the conference have focused around the themes on the Bishops' Place in the World and Human Sexuality. I've avoided all that. There isn't anything I can contribute, and there is no point in my getting upset over it until they decide what they are going to say. I've been listening and talking to bishops, but the hearings are just too much. Shots Photos of the women bishops were taken as well. These were both e...

The Lambeth Diary

Personal reflections and notes by the bishop of colorado from the 2008 lambeth conference. Sunday, August 3, 2008. A Concusion Without Conclusions. Today the 2008 Lambeth Conference officially came to a conclusion—a fact that inevitably raises the question “What has it accomplished? Placing ourselves in the hands of the living God is always a risky thing, of course. What has been produced? None of which should minimize it’s significance. It is quite simply a faithful record of conversations hel...This af...
