October is for Opals. Opal is mainly from Australia, but it also comes from Mexico, Peru, Brazil and Indonesia. Australian opal comes in three varieties: Crystal Opal, Boulder Opal and Black Opal. Boulder Opal is found in several mines. Some of the most intense color. This is the type of opal used in inlay jewelry, which has the base of the setting blackened before the precision cut crystal opal is set into it. Opal is a fragile stone because all opals contain water. The content varies but it can be ...

http://puddingandlace.blogspot.com/2011/01/born-with-silver-spoon.html
Born with a Silver Spoon . . . . Silver Spoons are not just for your mouth anymore . . . . Always on the hunt for new and interesting jewelry, I found a stall where a young lady was turning antique silverware into wearable art. Forks became bracelets and tie clips, spoons became rings and pendants. In the seventeenth century, English servants who married began the tradition of crafting wedding rings from stolen bits of silverware, since they couldn't afford a proper ring. Patio Fare Featuring Pesto and Focaccia. Mom and I both had a bit of a nap, and then around 2pm we woke up and decided we better do something productive with our day. So we decided to make lunch. (I know, extremely productive of us.). We baked the loaded bread for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees; just long enough to heat the bread and tomatoes without melting all of that beautiful burrata. Once out of the oven, we drizzled it with some rosemary balsamic reduction. Man oh man, was it good! It's all in the...

A couple years back while I was travelling through Spain, I kept seeing women with these ornate and fanciful decorations in their hair. Not the traditional. Or flamenco hair combs worn by a senorita of high society, but something else that the Spanish women were carrying off with elegance and aplomb. I believe Sarah Jessica Parker summed it up best as her character Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in the City - The Movie when she said,. 8220;I put a Bird on my head”. 8220;Is that what it was?
