Lands End to John O' Groats 2010

Wednesday, 16 June 2010. The Final Day: Dornoch to John O'Groats! For some the relief was immense.we only had 81 miles to go on our mammoth journey. As we left Dornoch we took a back road and spotted some seals lolling on a sand bank in the bay, we rejoined the A9 - and were accompanied on our ride by a view of the north sea for the rest of the day. 9904 miles, and so far approaching £4k in sponsorship for Cancer Research UK (and the Relay For Life event on July 10). Lands End to John O' Groats 2010: January 2010

http://landsendtojohnogroats2010.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, 30 January 2010. Lands End to John O' Groats 2010. On June 2nd, 2010 we are attempting to ride the length of Britain, Lands End to John O' Groats, LE JOG! Good question…and one I am sure we’ll be asking ourselves numerous times when it is too painful to actually sit on our saddles and the wind is blowing us backwards. The challenge is a tough one, 954 miles in 13 days, averaging around 70 miles a day, but we are up for the challenge! Ade, Lucy, Nick and Philippa. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

http://landsendtojohnogroats2010.blogspot.com/2010/06/day-3-tiverton-to-alveston-after-all.html

Thursday, 10 June 2010. Day 3: Tiverton to Alveston. After all the climbing of the previous day we were all pretty exhausted, but, well fed on a breakfast cooked by Linda, we headed off to Somerset. The Levels were a welcome relief, especially as the sun was burning hot. Liberal amounts of sunscreen were applied throughout the day, and a shady spot was found for lunch. Lucy says Belmont Hill was loooong. And shady. Ade loved it. 73.7 miles added to the total. Ade, Lucy, Nick and Philippa. I saw the sign ...

Thursday, 10 June 2010. Day 5: Bromsgrove to Nantwich. After much umming and ahhing about the weather forecast, we packed our wet weather gear for an anticipated rainy day. Setting off from Bromsgrove with Sarah, Ade’s sister (the 5th Beatle), also in the saddle, we took her 12 miles then farewelled her as she headed back home and we continued on our way for a further 64.5 miles. Monday, 14 June 2010. Phil was unhappy today because her knee was hurting in the morning. (Eased off in the afternoon, so good humour eventually resumed). Sun shone through the clouds and burnt us all in odd places. First thing, Nick took the car key with him on his bike and left our support drivers stranded and panicked. Nick duly returned to the guest house and zoomed back to catch up the break away trio. Ade, Lucy, Nick and Philippa. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I saw the sign and it opened up ...

http://landsendtojohnogroats2010.blogspot.com/2010/06/day-9-dumfries-to-irvine-seemingly.html

Friday, 11 June 2010. Seemingly refreshed from our day off in Dumfries, we got back on the bikes for our first full day cycling in Scotland. An undulating route, which looked down on lochs and grazing sheep, eventually led through the Galloway Forest Park. The day was marred by a strong and cold headwind (but at least it didn't rain! There are now 300 miles left to cover in 4 days. as the Lowlands change to the Highlands, the elevation will increase each day. If only we weren't so tired. I saw the sign a...

Lands End to John O Groats

Lands End to John O Groats. Sunday, 30 September 2007. I saw tht you left a comment on my blog, but no mail to reply to. We had cycled a long way before May, some 2000 miles - a mixture of here, Spain and some weekly sportives. We had only one 100 ride before the event. We had a mixture of bikes, with a triple being the front set of choice, though I never struggled too bad on a 50-36 compact. If you send an e-mail to delomac@aol.com. Sunday, 24 June 2007. I went with Hywel last week to recce the route - ...

Lands end to John O'Groats. Follow me as I cycle from Lands Ends to John O'Groats this summer. Well we’ve done it! 1033 miles and almost 62,000ft of climbing. A fabulous tour, many thanks to Chris Ellison and the CTC. Been there, done it! Opened our curtains on beautiful views and sunny blue skies. Straight onto the coast road which undulated as we had been forewarned but was immensely enjoyable thanks to sweeping downhill…. The golden sands at Bettyhill. Run out of gas? Lands End to John O'Groats Cycle Guide

Lands End to John O'Groats Cycle Guide. Thursday, 2 July 2015. Iconic Climb on A9 Due to Change. The steep hairpin climb at Berriedale Braes on the A9 is the last really major effort that those heading north have to face before John O'Groats. Its hairpin bend and then relentless slog up past the cemetery will be indelibly burnt into the memory of anyone who has completed the route. But it looks like that might all change.
