Locally grown on Bainbridge Island
Samantha’s passing | Laughing Crow Farm
https://laughingcrowfarm.wordpress.com/2010/09/28/samanthas-passing
Locally grown on Bainbridge Island. September 28, 2010. From In praise of Island Stewards 2002, Joel Sackett. Sam returns to the earth. My early lessons were sometimes learned the hard way – via runaways! Over the years, Sam and I got to the point that we did most of the cultivating together. We still weren’t very good at plowing, in no small part do to my big plow (that really needed 2 horses to pull it) and my inexperience. Over the last few years she gave my farm apprentices their first chance...Besid...

Scapes are in! | Laughing Crow Farm
https://laughingcrowfarm.wordpress.com/2010/06/02/scapes-are-in
Locally grown on Bainbridge Island. Samantha’s passing →. June 2, 2010. The garlic scapes are coming on strong in the garlic patch right now! Scapes are the stem-like flower stalk of the garlic plant, and they are delicious raw or cooked. Chop them up raw for a salad topper or sautee them in olive oil until they brown slightly and serve over pasta. Or if you’re feeling more creative, try this Garlic Scape Pesto. Between ourselves and our land. Not certified, but efficient. Laquo; remembering july. Last semptember was a good one. December 18, 2013 by Chandler. My memory of August is similar to July. Hot, sweaty, and a bit of a blur. And eating a lot of amazing fruit. Amazing to see these photos now especially photos of the brassica field most of those plants are a slimy pile of foul goop after we hit 0F earlier this month with little snow to protect the plants. Peanut sweeps cleaning up. Wedding lamb spit roast.

Between ourselves and our land. Not certified, but efficient. Laquo; Farmer to Farmer 2013. September 4, 2014 by Chandler. I decided to build a horse-powered root digger, known to some as a bed lifter. I hoped that not only would it provide us with another job to use the horses in which we had been previously using hand tools, but it would make these digging jobs faster and more efficient. We found a two-wheeled, two-horse implement set up as a bed lister. When we looked it up in Lynn Miller’s. Is that t...
