One of the most remarkable documentaries I’ve seen was on American Experience on PBS several years ago. Simply called “ Panama Canal. 8221;, I found it riveting, never thinking I would see the canal up close and in person one day. When we visited Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, a couple years ago. This replica of a lock gate is in the museum at the Miraflores Lock Visitor Center.

As it went by us, it raised up to miss the power lines and then eventually landed in the road about a half mile south of where we were parked. We could see that it was finally able to pull off the road into an area that had recently been cleared off. We continued our trip, stopping off at Deming, NM at the Dream Catcher and stayed a couple nights, meeting and enjoying some quality time with Fran and Rich Tilgner, including going out to eat at a great pizza place! We had bacon, egg and cheese english muffins to start the day. As we went down the road, we thought we would stay in Canton at a campground, but then we did a little search and decided to try Timberlake Campground, in Ridgeland/Jackson MS. Boy, we are glad we did! Saturday, 10th, woke to wonderful sunshine!
