Home On The Farm: September 2009
http://myhomeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 24, 2009. To knock the hunger pangs off my starving curiosity, I've decided to compile a list of questions I have for God so that when the time comes, I'll be sure not to forget to ask him anything. And, who knows, maybe He'll answer sooner! I realize you've used me as some sort of heavenly entertainment. Why else would you have me born into a "city" family and then marry a "farm" man? You have got to have a sense of humor! On a more serious note, I've often wondered why you have bles...

Home On The Farm: Kidney stoners unite!
http://myhomeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2012/09/kidney-stoners-unite.html
Friday, September 7, 2012. Three weeks ago today the most intense pain I’ve EVER felt punched me in the stomach like a bolt of lightning. I tried to walk it off, laid down to ease it, even tried to curl up into a little ball to make it to go away. Didn’t work and in no time at all I knew I needed help. Matt was already gone to work and the kids were starting to rouse so I called my poor mom and awakened her with my panicked, pain-stricken plea for help. A few tests later, Dr. Oehlschlager/Google was ...

Home On The Farm: August 2009
http://myhomeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 27, 2009. To reap what you sow. I saw all my past sins come to life in my first-born’s eyes as she defiantly dunked her father’s shoes in the pool. Anger lasted only a moment before the guilt set in. Now I’m sure Matt has had his fair share of past transgressions, but I will bet you dollars to donuts that mine outnumber his. (And I’m not bragging! So while Kadence was disciplined for her obsurd actions, I internally felt some of the heat. Discipline for parents, I guess. So why do I have...

Home On The Farm: August 2010
http://myhomeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 23, 2010. A niece says thanks. How can I summarize 75 years into one column? How can I write what I want to say and convey to you why a man like Doug Seneker made such an impact on so many? I don’t think I can. My black and white words will not do justice to the colorful lifetime of memories made. My memories of my Dunkle Bug (which is how I pronounced his name when I was little and it stuck) are entangled with that of my Grandpa Don, his identical twin brother. Dear Dunkle Bug,. Doug Sene...

Home On The Farm: October 2009
http://myhomeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 22, 2009. Mae Mae, you complete us. I never knew I needed four kids. I never knew I wanted four kids. And I was never more sure of this than after I received a positive pregnancy test a mere months after our third child was born. But what was done was done, and Matt and I were left to deal with the aftermath, as impossible as the circumstances might have been. But Masen came, just like the doctor had promised, in January 2008. Oh, yes, life with four was off to a great start. But little...

Home On The Farm: New rugs
http://myhomeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2012/09/new-rugs.html
Friday, September 7, 2012. Sunday afternoon, April 15, I was taking a nap. A nap on a rug. Not a literal rug, but a figurative one. Honestly, I had no clue I still even had that rug. Because when I left for college and then when I had a family of my own, I was sure that I left the comfort of that rug and moved onto my own. Somebody, somewhere pulled that rug out from under me and I immediately began to sink. Suffocating with new feelings and emotions. Shock Pain. Worry. Love. New reality. At that moment ...

Home On The Farm: November 2010
http://myhomeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 10, 2010. As I removed the turkey baster from my youngest son’s nose on “one of those days,” it reminded me of God’s sense of humor. Not even five minutes later, when I was washing a dog treat from that same child’s mouth, a small, still voice reminded me that “everything happens for a reason.”. There’s a reason nothing is getting done today and everybody is at everybody else’s throat. There’s a reason I have no energy to wash the mounds of laundry and dishes. I didn’t know. Now that ...

Home On The Farm: I want to write a book
http://myhomeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2012/09/i-want-to-write-book.html
Friday, September 7, 2012. I want to write a book. I want to write a book. What I really want to do is effortlessly and painlessly compile some words onto some pages and have somebody somewhere mail me large checks. I would gladly receive those checks at my farm where I’m content to never ever leave again. But you know what I’ve been doing instead? Lately, I have become a giant waster of time and avoider of work that in my bones I feel born to do. So I take a nap. Or I need to do this or that. I know I&#...

Home On The Farm: December 2010
http://myhomeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 14, 2010. A date that will live in infamy. A day that will change the dynamic of Oehlschalger farm forever. It was the day we got rid of satellite. Now, without a digital converter box, we are the proud owners of an Amish television. And when the wind blows, our channel options are even fewer. Sounds pathetic this is such a big deal, right? I think it is. It’s pretty sad when deciding to turn off the tube and turn to family time caused such a stir. Wake up, America. We are zombies!
