This Too Shall Pass. February 27, 2015 - Posted by Christy Caine - 0 Comments. I’ve just learned of the passing of Leonard Nimoy. It spawned the following thought:. Here is for what school and parents and no one ever prepares us:. Life never stops changing. Even the good stuff. “This too shall pass,” is meant to bolster us against the hard times so we know they are not fixed, not permanent. But it also applies to the good. This too shall pass… and we will be forever trying to adjust to these changes.

8220;There was a time…. September 21, 2014 - Posted by Christy Caine. 8230; before fear, [when] love was the only song you knew.” – Danny Dummitt. I’m Christy Caine. I’m Scott’s cousin. I’m the one in the pigtails and the patent leather shoes. He’s the one with. As I thought about what I wanted to say today, I realized that Scott is one of the few people who understood some of the best parts of my childhood because we experienced them together. Who made tents out of sheets on the clothesline. He was with...

September 27, 2011 - Posted by Christy Caine. Los Angeles, 2010. A year ago, Los Angeles experienced its hottest day on record, and in it the world lost a gifted, creative artist; her family lost their world; and her friends, who loved her well, began to hold on to wonderful memories that comfort them still. I worked on this for days through the chaos and the fog……because I needed to get it right, and I edited right up until we left for the service…. The most beautiful aspects of life transcend words.

The Truth Will Set You Free: This is Water. May 20, 2013 - Posted by Christy Caine. His words are poignant and true and transformative. If you have never heard this talk – or even if you have – it’s well worth your time to listen to this excellent excerpt in the accompanying video:. This is the truth that sets us free. That separates those who stumble through life merely existing – yet unaware – and those who consciously choose to see and take The Road Less Traveled By. The Road Not Taken. Somewhere ages...

Ceci N’est Pas Une Tulipe. April 26, 2013 - Posted by Christy Caine - 12 Comments. I left my job to begin my maternity leave with my first child exactly in the spring eleven years ago. And eleven years ago these tulips were blooming in this very same spot in our neighbor’s yard. It was during this “respite” from the everyday chaos of work and life to stay home with and nurture my first born that. For the first time how a tulip is. Have you ever noticed this? How do they look right now? I’m unaware ...

Thoughts and encouragement for writers.Discussions and lessons from Middle Grade and Young Adult authors. Sunday, September 2, 2012. I was wandering through the toy aisles at Target the other day, waiting for my son to choose a birthday present for a friend. In the section with the smaller, travel-sized games and card decks, I did a double-take. Have you seen these? 9 cubes. 54 images. 10 million combinations. Infinite stories. Thoughts and encouragement for writers.Discussions and lessons from Middle Grade and Young Adult authors. Saturday, January 21, 2012. I’ve been reading about lots of journeys lately. Call them quests or pursuits or escapes if you will – but they all boil down to a beginning point and a period of travelling to get to the end, right? In Ronald Tobias’s book 20 Master Plots and How to Build Them. Tobias’s chapter on the Quest plot outlines three different acts of the story:. The Wizard of Oz. Treasure of th...

For weeks now, my MG manuscript has been on the verge of being a finished first draft. Weeks. Seriously. Instead of opening my book file. Question for you, CK readers: How do you feel about flashbacks in fiction? Or used for the wrong reasons? If you use them in your own writing, why? What purpose do they ultimately serve to your plot? Here's a brief excerpt I've been playing with. narrated by Sydney, a teenager on the run with her boyfriend in one of my WIPs. Instead, he sat across the room, his eyes closed&...

Dare to dream

Someone who has many thoughts running through her every second but does not like to express her feelings and thoughts to people around her. What you get VS what you know. I heard this interesting topic of conversation today. ‘Try not to have a wish of getting something as this originates from greed. Instead, try to have a wish of knowing something as this orginiates from wisdom’. Intersting idea, isn’t it? Everyone should thinking of what they want to know, instead of what they want to get. (:.
