Learning with the Landes Family

Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Lest you think I have it all together let me prove you wrong. Here is my evidence. On any given school day this is what my house looks like. completely and utterly destroyed. This is what homeschooling really looks like, at least at my house. Laundry piles up, dishes fill the sink, floors go unswept. Why? Because my kids need my attention, time, and efforts. The rest can wait .They are worth a dirty house. Highlights from Weeks 2 and 3. Learning with the Landes Family: November 2012

http://www.learningwiththelandesfamily.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 4, 2012. This week we wrapped up our study of South America and are ready to head into next week as we do a book study on The Trumpet of the Swan. Here is a little of what we learned and did this week. We finished reading through the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew and continued to memorize Matthew 5:14-16. This little cooking project was SUPER messy! And the kids loved every minute of it). The kids made these airplanes just like the one Nate flew. Learning to organize his writing. Of cou...

Learning with the Landes Family: July 2012

http://www.learningwiththelandesfamily.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 19, 2012. HS Rules and Expectations. I sat down with my husband the other night and worked on defining some rules and expectations for our kids. None of this is new to them, just presented in a clearer, more defined way. Here is what we came up with. To do what someone tells you to do. Ephesians 6:1-4 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on earth.”. Proverbs 10:17 “He wh...

Learning with the Landes Family: August 2013

http://www.learningwiththelandesfamily.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 26, 2013. We started off our first full week with this. Good Morning. Nothing wrong with a little dance party to get the wiggles out and help us get our minds and hearts centered on God. Saturday, August 24, 2013. First Day of School 2013. Working on that pencil grip. He drew a self-portrait for his journal. A little corny I know, but the kids LOVED it! And that's all that matters! Friday we added in a little more work and less play and had a successful second day of school. The true t...

Learning with the Landes Family: October 2012

Thursday, October 25, 2012. This week began with a day at the Witte Museum for the Homeschool day. Witte offers different classes or educational presentations for the home school kids. This year I signed the kids up for a class called "Why Matter Matters". So much fun! The burning gummy bear experiment to show chemical change - the kids favorite! Perfect picture of my kids. Isaac "Mom, this is so lame" Julia "I'm going to give you my sweet smile" Caleb "WooHoo. Can I get one of these at home? Thought thi...

Learning with the Landes Family: Sabbath

http://www.learningwiththelandesfamily.blogspot.com/2013/09/sabbath.html

Sunday, September 8, 2013. What a beautiful weekend we had as we observed the Sabbath for the first time as a family. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. Genesis 2:2. The closeness we shared throughout the night was unlike any other we have had. After dinner we all helped clean up and then spent the rest of the evening just hanging out and laughing together. Our family bonds were strengthened for sure.

Blessed Beyond Measure: Blue Monkey

http://cheryllandes.blogspot.com/2013/08/blue-monkey.html

Saturday, August 24, 2013. Have you read about Orange Rhino. I have a chart on the refrigerator door with 400 spaces on it and I highlight one for each day I successfully get through without yelling at my kids. I also printed out and laminated several blue monkeys, one of which even rides around in the van with us! This has been a good reminder for our entire family and just tonight Gabe was telling me that it has also helped him to keep a level head when feeling frustrated. Provided by Christ Notes.

Blessed Beyond Measure: 38 weeks

http://cheryllandes.blogspot.com/2012/11/38-weeks.html

Monday, November 12, 2012. A lot has happened since I last updated about my pregnancy. Our baby boy is growing, growing, growing! Caleb was first up. I took him to get some dinner and then we went to a park to play. He soaked up all the attention and we had fun playing together. Next I took Isaac out. He opted for a date at Orange Leaf - his absolute favorite! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Provided by Christ Notes. View my complete profile. My husband and I. Born November 19, 2012. Blessed Beyond Measure: Bells Palsy

http://cheryllandes.blogspot.com/2012/11/bells-palsy.html

Thursday, November 15, 2012. Friday, the 9th: I started to notice that food was tasting strange to me. At first I just thought it was a strange pregnancy thing, kind of like first trimester food aversions. Saturday, the 10th: My tongue felt funny. It felt like it was covered with something and I couldn't taste things right. (or like when you get a burn on your tongue) This day was also full of cramping and contractions that lasted half the day, completely unrelated to the Bells. Provided by Christ Notes.
