Lindsay's Lobes: Chiltern
http://lindsaylobe.blogspot.com/2015/05/chiltern.html
A collective kaleidoscope of thoughts on life’s light filled agenda. Saturday, May 9. Above are some pictures taken during an enjoyable stay at historic Chiltern and of nearby Beechworth, which are within a comfortable 3 hour drive north of Melbourne. The first settlers were graziers but no sooner was the town community established with the erection of civic buildings in 1852, it became swamped by the gold prospectors as rich seams were discovered in 1858. We joined our friends who were mostly engaged in...

Lindsay's Lobes: Beyond Literal Belief: Religion as Metaphor by David Tacey
http://lindsaylobe.blogspot.com/2015/06/beyond-literal-belief-religion-as.html
A collective kaleidoscope of thoughts on life’s light filled agenda. Thursday, June 18. Beyond Literal Belief: Religion as Metaphor by David Tacey. Having read this fascinating book here are my thoughts and those of a friend of mine in that order. From this rather grand objective one is drawn to Tacey’s engaging and well-constructed arguments that mythical foundations underpin spiritual experience and understanding. The problem is exasperated by the paucity of what is known of Jesus, restricted as it is ...

A collective kaleidoscope of thoughts on life’s light filled agenda. Friday, May 29. Around this time we celebrate the feast day of St Kizito, which commemorates his martyrdom on the 3. June 1886, together with the 32 slain by King Mwanga II of Uganda. Today Malawi remains one of the poorest and less developed countries in the world, but its reputation remains “as the warm heart of Africa”. Lindsay's Lobes: Greek tragedy unfolding
http://lindsaylobe.blogspot.com/2015/07/greek-tragedy-unfolding.html
A collective kaleidoscope of thoughts on life’s light filled agenda. Wednesday, July 1. The Greek tragedy is gaining in momentum as yet another milestone passed with an official debt. Default and ominous signs the government coffers are empty. Their PM has bailed out of talks with the EU and IMF and called for a July 5. Referendum has not impressed the EU and initially spooked global markets as the fear of a Greek exit might lead to contagion to other weak links in the Euro zone and to banking collapses.

Lindsay's Lobes: December 2014
http://lindsaylobe.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
A collective kaleidoscope of thoughts on life’s light filled agenda. Monday, December 15. At the time I grew up as a child Australia was more “English” than the English. We sang traditional English Christmas carols and songs about a winter wonderland each Christmas despite it being in the height of our hot summer. Our parents slaved over a hot stove to serve up our piping hot Christmas family dinner with plum pudding appropriate to any English household blanketed in snow. Carol of the Birds. Softly and s...

Lindsay's Lobes: How does a Christian differentiate himself from a Liberal Humanist?
http://lindsaylobe.blogspot.com/2015/07/how-does-christian-differentiate.html
A collective kaleidoscope of thoughts on life’s light filled agenda. Tuesday, July 21. How does a Christian differentiate himself from a Liberal Humanist? A growing number of people today identify themselves as liberal humanists embracing an atheistic attitude to life to find how people can live a good life together. This may sound an irrelevant question, but it is an important one, as humanism becomes more wide spread. The question arises what Christ told us which stands out from all other philosoph...

Lindsay's Lobes: Coles brand now feeling stale
http://lindsaylobe.blogspot.com/2015/04/coles-brand-now-feeling-stale.html
A collective kaleidoscope of thoughts on life’s light filled agenda. Tuesday, April 14. Coles brand now feeling stale. My letter as per below appeared today in the AFR alongside a large cartoon depicting the giant Coles supermarket displaying two large sale bins for shoppers with signage" Suppliers freshly squeezed" and another headed "Furphies baked today". In the article ". 25 million fine in "fresh bread" suit. But when the matter first arose Cole's response was they were engaging in competitive sourc...
