Day 13 – Loch Ness to Inverness | George Walker, Alice Rolfe and Alex James do LEJOG

https://lejogcycle.wordpress.com/2011/08/27/day-13-loch-ness-to-inverness

George Walker, Alice Rolfe and Alex James do LEJOG. Just another WordPress.com site. Day 13 – Loch Ness to Inverness. Today was our rest-esque day. We had a tiny day, but a goodie. We left late, having had a nice lie in from the birthday celebrations last night, and headed for the big smoke (Inverness…). Tonight we have unwound by visiting the city and by going to the movies to watch The Inbetweeners! We will take it steady tomorrow, but the day’s rest has put us in good stead for it. Heading for the dee...

George Walker, Alice Rolfe and Alex James do LEJOG. Just another WordPress.com site. Day 9 – Carlisle to Abington. We made it. Scotland. We left our University accommodation late this morning, around 9.15. We travelled north (surprisingly) and headed firstly for Gretna Green. We quickly eloped and left the small town, heading for a boring road. Highlights of today were the beautiful Scottish hills which surrounded us and actually having officially completed England! The 3 wee Scots. Date : August 23, 2011.

George Walker, Alice Rolfe and Alex James do LEJOG. Just another WordPress.com site. Day 14 – Inverness to Crask. Today was a challenge. So we then trundled on. The weather picked up and we were all frozen. We were cycling DOWNHILL and we were barely reaching 5mph due to the headwind! We had a coffee break with him at 30 miles in a plush, tartan clad coffee shop. All of us had ideas of calling it a day as the weather was awful, but Les cracked out the ‘Mr Motivator’ esque lines and we cou...So we got bac...

George Walker, Alice Rolfe and Alex James do LEJOG. Just another WordPress.com site. Day 8 – Slaidburn to Carlisle. We set out early from our hostel in the tiny village of Slaidburn. Our hostel was great by the way; early looking building with an open fire and nice rooms. Slaidburn is at the bottom of a big hill, seemed great last night on arrival, but not in the morning when your faced with a large climb out…. TODAY WAS DAY 8 OF 15, WHICH MEANS THAT WE ARE OVER HALF WAY IN DAYS ASWELL AS MILES! Yes, tod...

George Walker, Alice Rolfe and Alex James do LEJOG. Just another WordPress.com site. Day 11 – Loch Lomond to Glencoe. Today blew each one of our minds. Scotland is incredible. We left our castle and headed for the Loch. We followed a road right alongside it, it wasn’t until about 10 miles in that we actually got a decent view. It was lovely. Very peaceful, very picture-esque. It was great to see them and was a real booster! THANKS FOR MEETING UP. ALSO, a jet flew past us! Date : August 25, 2011. The pict...

George Walker, Alice Rolfe and Alex James do LEJOG. Just another WordPress.com site. Day 15 – Crask to John o’Groats. We only flippin finished didn’t we! We are now in our hostel after completing our 1007 mile bicycle ride! We left our hotel in the middle of nowhere at around 9. Today was 86 miles to the finish so we knew we had a biggy. We were joined by Les the Great and Matty the Adventurer and set off into a reasonable head wind. Were all feel a little loopy and it seems a bit surreal but its over!

LANDS END TO JOHN O'GROATS. On Saturday 22nd August 2009 4 friends from Exeter in Devon will attempt to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats. We aim to complete the challenge in 9 days. The total distance to be covered over the 9 days is 921 miles. We will have no back up support. We are staying in pre booked hotels and guest houses. It seemed like a good idea at the time discussing it over a few beers down the local pub one Saturday evening. HOW YOU CAN HELP. Create a free website.

LEJOG Cycle 2011

Tuesday, 16 August 2011. Jim H’s day 14 Lejog blog. Another stinky night on narrow bed, with a nasty duvet. I didn't care. It was our last day on the road and I.we all, couldn't wait to get the job done. No breakfast at this hostel so two power bars for me and I was on my way. Mmmmmmmmm. Some great views followed. I could just see some more North Sea oil rigs on the horizon from the cliff top. I thought about the poor sods working out there and it made the frequent hills more bearable. Over the course of...

Wednesday, 22 September 2010. Day 16: Brora - John O' Groats (67 miles). We were very excited as today proved to be our last. I had light panniers and Sicknote had none. We knew that it was going to be a hard day, especially the first 30 miles. Ever since we embarked on this crazy journey, I have been warning about "Berriedale Braes". "Can't be that bad" "we'll see". The two lady fellow end-to-enders and their rather large entourage. On our cycle in from Wick, Hamish McLean (soon to be father-in-law of m...
