Peace Corps in China. Nciku (Chinese Language Site). Saturday, June 30, 2012. All things must come to an end. 65279; It was a rainy, bittersweet day in June when I said goodbye to my last class of students. Leo's China Page: March 2012

http://leoschinapage.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Peace Corps in China. Nciku (Chinese Language Site). Friday, March 23, 2012. So what exactly is going on in Yibin? And I have had the chance to get great advice from current FSOs and others, like me, who are still in the trial phase. On the China front things have been going smoothly. Teaching has gotten loads easier due to all the help and tips from our PC community. We do games, critical thinking activities and yes, on occasion random cross-cultural activities like song and dance. In addition, I recent...

http://leoschinapage.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Peace Corps in China. Nciku (Chinese Language Site). Thursday, September 30, 2010. I marveled at this as I made my way up Cuiping mountain for the second time, my speed reaching that of perhaps an aged and depressed English bulldog (sorry, Frank). We were celebrating Mid-Autumn festival in our own way by joining our Chinese students in another hiking trip. This time Chris and I would be ascending from the opposite side and would discover plenty of new sites (including a zoo! What have you created? Yes," ...

Peace Corps in China. Nciku (Chinese Language Site). Sunday, August 29, 2010. Say Goodbye to Chengdu. Chris and I departed yesterday with our own personal escort as members of the Yibin University Foreign Affairs office had personally arrived to take us back. With their help we lugged all of our possessions into a black sedan and waved goodbye to our fellow volunteers and the city of Chengdu. 8220;Have you had any heartening experiences during the Shanghai Expo? Why did you wear a Qi Pao today? 8221; My ...

Peace Corps in China. Nciku (Chinese Language Site). Friday, March 23, 2012. Well after untold amounts of procrastination I finally made it back to my blog, here again to regal you with all the incredible adventures I have experienced since you last heard from me. OK so maybe nothing that enormously exciting has happened recently, but I certainly have had lots of great experiences in the last few months. First off, I had a great time when my mother, sister Rose and her fiance Ryan came to visit. Kashgar ...

Our Life Unbound: 11.11

http://dryesterday.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Since the end of the sweltering Chongqing summer, time has flown by with unimaginable speed. I feel as though I missed the entire month of October, but was somehow able to slow down enough to have a Halloween party. Its like I woke up one day in China and actually had a normal life. My dad earned himself bonus points by waking up early each morning and walking himself around the city (even all the way to Jie Fang Bei) with no Chinese and no map. Who feel as much a part of my family as my real family does.

Best Waiban Trip Ever! And she said "Yeah, I think so." So I laid there, thinking they were going to come back with a back roller. Instead she came back with a little bowl with some sort of stick shaped object in it. Our liaison said, "Oh, by the way, you can't take a shower for six hours after you have this done." What were they going to do? It wasn't until I got home that I looked at my back and figured out what they did to me! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). With the drawing of this love.

Our Life Unbound: January Adventures

http://dryesterday.blogspot.com/2012/02/january-adventures.html

For our last luxuriously long winter break of our Peace Corps service (and maybe our lives) we wanted to make it memorable. Fortunately, traveling on a tight budget ensures non-stop adventures. Here is an episodic account of our experiences in the last month or so. Adventure #1: Harbin Deep Freeze New Year. Adventure #2: Pollution Induced Chest Cold from Hell. After Katie D. and Leo left, we knew we had to recover to make our trip to Indonesia possible, so we spent the last few days barely leaving th...

Summer Project: Small Victories. As the days passed, we modified our lessons with each rotation, and it seemed that many of the trainees were starting to understand what we were trying to accomplish. By the final day, we met as a whole group to discuss and brainstorm what had been learned during our two weeks in Wulong. This is some of what they shared:. How to encourage student confidence. Teaching for multiple intelligences. How to take student abilities in to account (differentiated instruction).
