WORDS@WORK: November 2012
http://lesliedavisguccione.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Ramblings on the writing life. Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Set up my laptop and knock off a bit of the rough draft of Chapter One while baking for Thanksgiving. The first diversion scrambled across the carpet and into my line of vision. I slathered feta cheese on a trap which let go twice on my finger. I moved the laptop out of the room and onto the kitchen counter. 9759;☟ This was my goal ☟☟. This was the view through my stove door. This is the extent of my baking ability. Getting Into Character: Building Character (s) and a Batwagon (Part 1)
http://brianlies.blogspot.com/2014/09/building-character-s-and-batwagon-part-1.html
Monday, September 15, 2014. Building Character (s) and a Batwagon (Part 1). First off, a warning: this will be a long post. If you want to skip ahead to the photos, that's fine. Since May, I've been gearing up for the release of Bats in the Band. Which was published in early August. Prepping our car for the launch involved a tremendous amount of fabrication—carpentry, plumbing, sewing, sculpture and fiberglass work. Bats at the Beach. Bats at the Library. Bats at the Ballgame. For Bats in the Band. Stret...

Friday, October 17, 2014. Ferreting out an old sketch. I sketched this guy exactly six months ago today, but never got around to finishing him until now. Here he is. . . and I'm not sure I trust him any more in tonal color than I did in the blue pencil sketch I did on April 17th. I asked about a name for him back then, and my favorite was "Mr. Pole" (which sounds particularly Beatrix Potter to me). Any new ideas for his name, now that he's in color? Greetings from Nowhere: Thank you, Canada!!
http://greetings-from-nowhere.blogspot.com/2015/04/thank-you-canada.html
Ramblings about children's books (and sometimes some other stuff) from author Barbara O'Connor. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Thank you, Canada! I recently spent three days visiting schools in Fredericton, New Brunswick. To get there, I had to fly on an itty bitty little plane like this, that kind of freaked me out. But I survived. Phew! My first stop was Gibson-Neill Memorial Elementary, where they know that it's the little things that count. A reserved parking spot! Such great pictures of dogs! L to r) The ...

Ramblings about children's books (and sometimes some other stuff) from author Barbara O'Connor. Thursday, May 14, 2015. Things I Love Thursday. I love my son's "writing" when he was 3 or 4 years old. Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Matt Faulker and a Big-Headed Kid. If you haven't seen Matt Faulkner’s new graphic novel, Gaijin: American Prisoner of War. Yet, you should. I’ve long admired his consummate draftsmanship and fluid use of color. But I’m reading Gaijin. Now, and partially because of the virtuosity of the word/picture storytelling and partially because of the subject matter (Japanese-American internment camps during WWII), this book is hitting me the way Art Spiegelman’s Maus. 8212;•—.
