P the tailor iii. Sustainable communication for sustainable development. People know but, where are the actions? November 7, 2014. November 7, 2014. Anyway, I have decided to focus my challenge on just having informal conversations with different people and writing my impressions about them here. This may not represent the whole society but it is going to be really interesting and I am sure that I will learn something from each chat. Good morning. What comes to your mind when I say sustainability? Accord...

P the tailor iii. Sustainable communication for sustainable development. January 6, 2015. January 6, 2015. First of all, I would like to say that Manuel Luis demonstrated to be a person highly committed to sustainability, who knows perfectly the problems of an irresponsible use of land and who tries to find constantly the best alternatives for a sustainable agriculture. I got the feeling that he even enjoys dealing with them. This method has several advantages:. Improvement of soil quality. To conclude, ...

December 5, 2014. December 5, 2014. That went rather quick! Just like that we have reached the end of Michaelmas term. Just like that I have saved around 2,700 L of water with with my change challenge so far (for the 5 week period). Unfortunately this did not go well. At All…. My girlfriend who’s back in NZ knew about this change challenge that I’m doing and I wanted her to consider some changes as well (very subtly). But i thought before i convince her to change her water use habits i th...8221; I need ...

New Direction | fishwhocantswim
https://fishwhocantswim.wordpress.com/2014/12/31/new-direction
December 31, 2014. This is totally rare for me as I normally demand meat with any dish, I can’t stand vegetarian only dishes and have always dreaded occasions where I was given only vegetarian meals. Being vegetarian is also cheaper and healthier but as I learnt from my previous change, I need to start out small. So I will eat a one vegetarian meal (lunch or dinner) twice a week. I think realistically this is very do-able, in terms of achieving small wins which is vital for the implementing change. 8220;...

How much water? | fishwhocantswim
https://fishwhocantswim.wordpress.com/2014/12/31/how-much-water
December 31, 2014. December 31, 2014. I’m sure a lot of you have seen water footprint comparisons between different types of food and realise things like farm grown food tend to have higher footprints. I’ve evaluated the water footprints of some foods (relating to my diet) and looked at what I could potentially cut down on as well as being a part time vegetarian. Potatoes seem like the way to go! Avoid coffee and wine – simple. Last but not least, one of my favorites…chocolate. Well guess what,...Mekonne...

Week 4 | fishwhocantswim
https://fishwhocantswim.wordpress.com/2014/11/20/week-4
November 20, 2014. November 20, 2014. Last week I made some changes to reduce the flow rate of my shower which eventuated in me potentially saving up 14,000L of water per year! This week my objective has been to cut down my shower time. In summary, the English winter is not the best time to make a change like this! 8211; Cutting down on the shower time has meant I can sleep in a bit longer! 8211; I’m aware of the energy use. Although not really part of change challenge I’m beginning to be...8211; Whilst ...
