The end of an era | Life in Limpopo
https://lifeinlimpopo.wordpress.com/2010/07/01/the-end-of-an-era
Adventures in rural South Africa. Laquo; Our time is running out. The end of an era. I can’t say I’m much better, but at least I stick out less! Then on Tuesday, the hospital held a surprise party for us at lunch time. Everyone was there, even little baby Shivani! After speeches were made and even poems read out by some of our colleagues, we were presented with handmade Shangaan outfits in my case, a top, beaded skirt, beaded shawl, beaded necklace, headgear and bracelet, but the. 10 months of our lives.

Our time is running out | Life in Limpopo

Adventures in rural South Africa. Laquo; Two pairs of hands. The end of an era. Our time is running out. We thought Benny would be the only person interested, seeing as he’s the only one who’s used it other than us, but there has been a huge amount of interest in it. An admin officer with a BMI of about 50 came to try it out during lunch today, and I thought for a minute that we were going to have to resuscitate him on our living room floor! Adventures in rural South Africa. Laquo; Cleared for landing. Our time is running out. Two pairs of hands. I guess if you’ve positively influenced one person’s life, then you’ve made a difference to them, as in the famous starfish-on-the-beach analogy, and I should be happy with what I have achieved rather than thinking about what I am unable to, but it is hard. It’s like we’re trying to stop a sinking ship with two pairs of hands and a leaky bucket. On 21/06/2010 at 00:27. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Life in Limbo | What are we waiting for this time?
What are we waiting for this time? March 16, 2015. March 16, 2015. A couple of weeks ago there was a giant stainless steel pan sitting on a table in the lunch room at work, with a note saying there were 35 of them…free for the taking. With lids. Of course, I just had the have one. Or five. For…uh…well…hmmm…I had no idea. But my building of about 50 people cleared them out that day. Giant pan of chips and salsa? Beer and ice for a party? Here’s what I did with mine this weekend. Herb garden. March 6, 2015.

Life in Limerick | "Your twenties are your selfish years."
More Reasons to Travel. Middot; 11:27 pm. 21 January 2014 · 10:46 pm. I bet you thought you’d seen the last of me, hadn’t you? Well, today is my one year mark for leaving for Ireland and I’ve been feeling quite nostalgic. I think that warrants a post, yes? I was nervous about everything: I had flown on planes almost every year of my life, but this was the first time I’d ever flown alone. Did I have all of the essentials? Would my luggage make it safely to Ireland? What if I get on the wrong plane? Note o...

Skip to main content. Skip to secondary content. Finding Him in the ends of us…. February 11, 2013. The squirrels play tag through the leaves, rustling up such a commotion that I think it must be a deer running alongside the house. No, just two gray squirrels hopping around the trees, bushy tails standing at attention behind them. They run off, taking their commotion with them and the cooper’s hawk comes into my view. October 15, 2012. A husband. You, the woman waiting for direction. The woman fi...This ...
Life in Limpopo | Adventures in rural South Africa
Adventures in rural South Africa. We’ve been back in the UK for over a month now. I’ve started work on the stroke ward and the medical on-call rota while Shivani does some locum Accident and Emergency shifts at another nearby hospital before she starts her paediatric training full-time. It is great to have senior colleagues to ask, Is this right? Or Should I be treating this patient with this or that? A friend of mine who was also working in South Africa last year pointed me towards an article on the BMJ...
