Build Your Own Swimming Pool Project. Friday, January 21, 2005. A few things we learned! If we ever build a pool again, one thing we would do different is contract the excavation out. A local company said they would come in, dig the hole and haul the dirt away for $1500. We thought we could save money, boy were we wrong. 2ND DIGGING ATTEMPT -. Things were going better. Matt still had manual digging and shaping to do, we could see the light at the end of the tunnel. WE HIT GROUND WATER -. Para; 11:15 AM.
