Laundry on the Lines: April 2015
http://laundryonthelines.blogspot.com/2015/05/april-2015.html
Laundry on the Lines. Sunday, May 3, 2015. Rachel's birthday is April 2. She asked for a raw vegan birthday cake and I managed to accommodate her request. It's made of pureed fruit frozen in layers, and it tasted much better than it looks. She was pleased with it, and that's what is important. We celebrated Easter with church services, lunch with the family, and the traditional egg hunt. This year there was a prize egg for each child. They were happy hunters. Last fall we moved some of Mama's peonies to ...

Laundry on the Lines: September 2014
http://laundryonthelines.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Laundry on the Lines. Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Late Post for August. August was a busy month in a lot of ways. It began with the ceiling fan in Hannah's room overheating one night, so the next day Phillip replaced it. We estimate that the old one had been there since the house was rebuilt after the fire in 1987, so we can't complain too much about it. The new ceiling fan. Emily and Jon came for a visit, but I didn't even take one picture. I'm sad about that, but we enjoyed the time with them. We al...

Laundry on the Lines: March 2015
http://laundryonthelines.blogspot.com/2015/04/march-2015.html
Laundry on the Lines. Monday, April 13, 2015. March was Lilly's month to spend the weekend. She helped Phillip plant the spring garden. She planted sugar snap peas. She baked brownies for Sunday dessert, but she and Phillip sampled them first to be sure they were good. She said they were almost as good as her cousin Jack's brownies. The daffodils were blooming all over the yard. Lilly picked bunches and arranged these in a few of Hannah's bottles. They filled our house with spring. 5 quarts salsa (Canned).

Laundry on the Lines: December 2014
http://laundryonthelines.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Laundry on the Lines. Monday, December 15, 2014. Our annual family camping trip took place in October and November. The November part wasn't as stormy as the October part. It was colder but we all managed to stay warm and have a good time. Jennifer and Jason cooked a delicious supper one night in their Dutch oven. Lilly and Lucy always like to keep their hair braided when we go camping. It's easy to care for and they look really pretty. Lilly found some hickory nuts and Phillip cracked them for her.

Laundry on the Lines: August 2014
http://laundryonthelines.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Laundry on the Lines. Friday, August 1, 2014. We celebrated the Fourth with family, fun, and food. In the evening, we took our packages of (legal) fireworks to the assisted living facility where Hannah works and shot them off for some of the residents. Compared to the regular fireworks, it was a pitiful little show but we had so much fun. The residents really got a kick out of it. Since it was a hot day, we had our picnic inside. Jonas is okay. He just didn't want his picture taken. And stirred it all up.

Much Ado About Cooking: June 2011
http://adoaboutcooking.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Much Ado About Cooking. Thursday, June 23, 2011. I needed to do a little therapeutic cooking. I dug through the fridge and drug out some ingredients that were getting ready to go bad and decided to see what I could do with them. I chopped up a cup and a half of mushrooms and added one chopped shallot. Then I sauteed them in a pan for about 3 minutes with a tablespoon of olive oil. Just enough to make them a little tender. Then I got out 5 eggs. Don't they look cool? Links to this post. Steak Diane and Re...

Much Ado About Cooking. Saturday, July 30, 2011. Lemony Orzo Veggie Salad. This is a recipe I modified from one I found at cookinglight.com. It was so delicious that I went ahead and made a second batch with even better results. This is great for summer. 3/4 cup uncooked orzo. 1/4 teaspoon Spice Island’s lemon peel. 3 tablespoons lemon juice. 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil. 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt. 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic. 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper. 2 cups shredded chicken. Honey ...

Laundry on the Lines. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. May was Jonas's month to spend the night. He was busy the whole weekend. (I think he looks like Jack Frankenberger in this picture.). Lilly's art was chosen to be displayed at a local museum. Picture-taking was not permitted, but our guide gave us special permission. I think he was probably a grandparent, too. Usually we only camp in the fall, but we decided to try a spring camping trip. It worked out well. Can you see Libby in the background? Okra - 5 gall...
