This summer we set up a totally independent school “Sonshine Learning Academy” for Christian children in a slum in Islamabad. We have rented a portion of a house (2 bedrooms) for the school. As of right now we have 30 children enrolled in our 2 pre-k classes and we have full time staff of 6 people including 3 teachers. We have a wonderful team of 6 amazing people. This team includes 3 full time teachers, a helper, an accountant and a coordinator. Meet the Children and our Team.

We are a small group of believers who want to make a difference in God’s kingdom. Our mission is to help the poorest Christians in Pakistan to break out of poverty and oppression through high quality education. Light on a Lampstand is founded by Urfa Aamir and her husband Aamir Mehta, originally from Pakistan, who migrated to the US in 2002 and now reside in the Philadelphia suburbs along with their three children. Urfa received a vision for this ministry in 2010, here’s the story in her own words:.
