Take My Pawn. Please.: June 2012
http://firstnormalform.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Take My Pawn. Please. Wednesday, June 27, 2012. As promised, here's my favorite Chessimo position so far:. I like the attraction into the sandwich of ill intentions. Studied 2841, Learned 300. There's an Anki deck of tactics; I haven't looked at it yet. It seems to me that it's a straightforward matter to build Anki decks of chess positions:. Position file - Scid - use the Engine Analyze Each Position feature - Save analysis as variations or commentary - Export - Parse and chop into Anki-able text file -...

The Back Rank: King and Pawn ending
http://thebackrank.blogspot.com/2008/03/king-and-pawn-ending.html
Tuesday, March 04, 2008. King and Pawn ending. This is an actual position from a recent game I played:. But black does have a winning idea in this position. Your name might be Likesforests. If you get it right away. 1 Ka6 2. Kd1 d2! 3 Ke2 Kb5 4. Kd1 Kxb4! In this position black is close enough to queening even if white runs with the a-pawn due to a mating threat. 5. a6 Kc3. And now 6. a7 is mate in two with 6. . Kd3 and 7. . e2# while 6. Ke2 Kc2. Posted by Loomis @ 6:47 PM 7 comments. After reading a lot...

The Back Rank: Two endgames
http://thebackrank.blogspot.com/2007/09/two-endgames.html
Sunday, September 02, 2007. I have a couple of endgame positions from recent games at the local coffeehouse. There is no doubt the importance of the endgame. It's also true that the endgame is so rich, you'll never run out of interesting things to study there. Exhibit A is likesforests. Who has had numerous very good blog posts on the endgame. Position 1, a win with bishops of opposite colors! The second position is a king and pawn endgame that features a combination of interesting techniques. Final cave...

KnightVision Chess Test Blog: September 2007
http://www.glennwilsonchess.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
KnightVision Chess Test Blog. A blog for testing KnightVision Chess. Saturday, September 29, 2007. Playing a Moron Defense after a double King pawn opening can be more challenging than after white plays d4 and c4. I call it the Kingside Moron. In the following game we see a Kingside Moron that clinches the top Expert prize in the 2003 U.S. Open. Matthew Campbell is formerly from Houston and, like me, learned how to play the Moron from Lewis McClary. The rest of this post is from Matthew:. Against the Sic...

Strength is more important then rating. They think so long. August 24, 2008. When i was watching the games i saw something very strange. One should think that GMs know their openings but on all the boards each player spend an hour or even more to play the first 15 moves. I wonder what was going on in their head when taking so much time for the opening phase of the game. Where they running over all those opening lines they know of variation x of line c? Why did they take so much time for those first moves?

Strength is more important then rating. Larr; NIC 2008-2009, Round one. A narrative: I will! A narrative: Opponent knows all. October 20, 2008. With a disgusted gesture of my hand i pushed over my king. With a hard ‘clak’ sound wood touches wood. People from the other side of the room are looking up to see what is happening. This was the last chess game i played against myself. It’s to hard. My opponent knows all my plans and thoughts. 6 Comments on “A narrative: Opponent knows all”. I dont know anymore ...
