Monday, December 26, 2011. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. I hope Santa was good to everyone and none of you found coal in your stockings. I received three new Xmas ornaments from Wendy that featured Lincoln statues and Lincoln sites. She also found a vintage hand colored photograph of Abe in a gift shop in Gettysburg when we were there for the Lincoln Forum in mid-November. It has been too long since I got back to my. I am not a huge proponent of dressing Abe up in clothing butsomeday I will have to rela...

Lincolning: February 2012
http://lincolnphotog.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 12, 2012. Happy Birthday to Mr. Lincoln and Jeff. Okay, you know Mr. Lincoln but Jeff is not known to most of you. Jeff is my youngest son and has lived in Dallas for nearly two years. Today is his birthday. He played college volleyball (its helps to be 6'6" tall and very athletic) in Pennsylvania for St. Francis and for Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. His older brother Matt is 6'7" and older sister Elizabeth was 6'0" and both of them played volleyball too. Twenty six years ago, ...

Lincolning: January 2011
http://lincolnphotog.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 2, 2011. The day after Christmas, Wendy and I made our annual Christmas trip down to visit my mother and sister who both live in Springfield, IL. The family Christmas was held on Sunday at my sister's home just outside Springfield. On Monday, I was up early anticipating a day of taking pictures of some of the statues of Lincoln in Springfield that I had somehow missed during previous visits or simply wanted to reshot. Is a large bust of Lincoln by noted Lincoln sculptor John McClarey.

Lincolning: March 2011
http://lincolnphotog.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 20, 2011. Is It Over Yet? Next year is our 35th. anniversary and we are thinking of reliving a trip we took together back in 1976. We were married in 1977, but the year before we backpacked around Europe for a month and visited many of the places that I had longed to visit since I was a child. As we dreamed of being in the Greek sunshine, we recalled our 30th. anniversary trip - a Hawaiian cruise. Now, what does any of this have to do with Lincoln statues? Lincoln has a certain connection a...

Musings on Route 66: ‘Show me’ – My state
http://musingsonroute66.blogspot.com/2012/04/show-me-my-state.html
Musings on Route 66. A book is perking. Wanna be a writer? Sunday, April 29, 2012. 8216;Show me’ – My state. Or is it “’Show me,’ my state,” “show me my state” or some other combination of letters and punctuation? Only time will tell, I guess. On Saturday, April 28 at 12:58 pm, I crossed the Mississippi River at Hannibal, Missouri, one of hundreds of times I’ve crossed the Big Muddy on bridges barely big enough for two cars or large enough for several. One time, I went across on a ferry. Every time IR...

Musings on Route 66: Commemorations don’t seem to matter as much right now
http://musingsonroute66.blogspot.com/2013/11/commemorations-dont-seem-to-matter-as.html
Musings on Route 66. A book is perking. Wanna be a writer? Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Commemorations don’t seem to matter as much right now. Today is the 150. Anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. Friday is the 50. Anniversary of the day President John F. Kennedy fell victim to an assassin’s bullet. Normally, as a history buff, I’d be all over those stories. For the first time since I entered the workforce a few days before my 16. More than one reason to give thanks. As I traveled with my husband to an...
