Creative ramblings in the Lincolnshire Wolds. August 27, 2016. August 27, 2016. This morning I visited “Faraway Places”, an exhibition celebrating the work of the Waltham Textile Group, led by Jacky Hopkins. The venue, adjacent to Waltham. Windmill, makes it an ideal spot for families to visit with cafes, picnic area, miniature railway, etc. The work really was inspiring as you will see from the following selection of quilts……. Blue Mountain and Horizon by Ann Kitching. Holiday Dreams by Ann Kitching.

Creative ramblings in the Lincolnshire Wolds. Eco Dyeing at Artvango…. July 29, 2015. December 20, 2015. Last Friday I spent a wonderful day at Artvango. Learning the basics of how to Eco Dye with Jenny Leslie. Other leaves Jenny suggested included apple, blackberry and eucalyptus. A selection of Jenny’s work. But I am looking forward to sorting them out and having a play this weekend, once I have been out and collected more greenary. Jenny explains how we will be using the murky looking liquids. My line...

Botanical Blinds….. | Lincs In Stitches

Creative ramblings in the Lincolnshire Wolds. July 5, 2015. December 20, 2015. I was recently at a friends house and, during the conversation we were having about what colour he should paint the hallway, I mentioned that I thought a pair of Roman blinds with a strong pattern would make a nice feature. Bobs windows overlook the Joseph Banks. Centre Garden so it naturally followed that the fabric should have a botanical theme. I found a bold, leafy patterned fabric called “ Jakarta. Creative ramblings in the Lincolnshire Wolds. August 24, 2016. August 24, 2016. I’ve just got back from attending two “play days” with the IFA. Region 8 ladies at Arnesby Village Hall. There were mini workshops happening on both days and, having seen the lovely felted brooch that Sandra Jenkins. Was making, I decided to join in with that one. Making a circular background from Merino and painting silk organza for the flowers. Combining the silk and felt to make the tiny flowers. July 25, 2016. At one of t...

Felt by Zed: MakeFest

http://feltbyzed.blogspot.com/2015/08/makefest.html

Thursday, 6 August 2015. I might have mentioned a while ago that I'd be doing wet felting workshops at an event called MakeFest. At the Museum of Science and Industry in August (8th and 9th, if anyone's interested! They have a textiles gallery. I love natural wools and fibres, so I made a small piece showing some of these, this is the piece before felting:. And this is after felting:. I did a simple piece to show what could be achieved just with a few different shades of Merino:. The locks sometimes get ...

Felt by Zed: December 2014

http://feltbyzed.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 30 December 2014. Dyed Wool and Fibres. I've bought commercially dyed silk noil before, but it really isn't good compared to the small amount I dyed once, so I thought I'd give that another go:. I also dyed some Tussah Silk tops - a good tip for anyone wanting to dye small amounts of fibre tops is to separate the amount you want to dye while the tops are dry, and soak them separately, it isn't easy when they're wet! If anyone is interested in dyeing smallish amounts of fibres, I did a small tuto...

Felt by Zed: June 2015

http://feltbyzed.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 16 June 2015. Before I discovered wet felting, I used to do a lot of painting. This is one of my favourite acrylics from 2007:. I decided to try and do a wet felted version of it. I did a couple of layers of Merino tops in a simplified palette of colours, then used some bamboo skewers to split the painting and felt piece into quarters as a guide for adding more detail for the 3rd layer. I had pretty much all my colours of Merino out for this. This is the finished layout:. I had an audience:.

Felt by Zed: Dyeing

http://feltbyzed.blogspot.com/2015/07/dyeing.html

Saturday, 11 July 2015. I've been dyeing some cellulose fibres recently for taking to the MakeFest at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester. I'm getting the hang of it now, but I don't think my first lot of fibres turned out as nice as I'd like. I did some Viscose fibre recently, and this turned out really nice. These are some of the reds, oranges and yellows:. And some yellows, greens, blues and purples:. And here are the yellows, browns and reds bamboo staple:. 14 July 2015 at 21:24. Yeah, the ...

Woodhall Show Time! – Pippinroo

https://pippinroo.com/2016/05/24/woodhall-show-time

May 24, 2016. May 24, 2016. What a gorgeous day! The sun came out and so did the crowds. In fact I don’t think I’ve ever seen it as busy as it was this year, and it seems everyone bought their dog out for a wander! One couple were even walking around with their parrakeets in a carrier for a day of social interaction! The first was the lovely Karen Lane who was our expert in residence on wet felting. Her blog Lincsinstitches. The second was my friend Rachel Patchett, who’s Mum donated some quirky Ch...

Hooked On Felt: I remember when I used to sleep at night....

http://hookedonfelt.blogspot.com/2013/11/the-challenge-these-days-is-staying.html

Friday, November 22, 2013. I remember when I used to sleep at night. The challenge these days is staying awake as I've returned to nursing full time and am working third shift. It's HARD! Very, very hard. My body is all messed up and my mind even more so. My morning is when most folks are heading off to bed and my nights are when everyone else is awakening to start their days. I have coffee at night and a glass of wine in the morning. Does this sound crazy to anyone besides me? So with that knowledge.

how to make felted soaps and pebbles (rosiepink)

Subscribe to blog posts. Email us: rosiepink@btinternet.com. How to make felted soaps and pebbles. Felted soap makes a pretty gift that will last much longer than an uncovered bar of soap. The felt shrinks with the soap and at the end you’ll have a very handy ‘scrubby’. Bar of soap a rounded shape is easier to felt. Piece of tutu net - approx 45cms x 45cms. Merino wool top plain or blended colours approx 5g wool per bar of soap depending on its size. Then place more fine tufts of wool, in a criss-cross f...

Subscribe to blog posts. Email us: rosiepink@btinternet.com. This is a quick and fun project to make with children in an hour or so your child can make a masterpiece! Most children tend to love the tactility of felt making the fluffiness of the wool top and the squishiness of the felt once its all wet. To make a flower picture you will need:. Plastic tray (cat litter or garden cutting). Piece of tutu netting. Merino wool top/roving (we used white, blue, green, yellow and purple). Soap (liquid and bar).
