Twisted Stitcher (Oz style)...: January 2011
http://onemorestitcher.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Twisted Stitcher (Oz style). The trials and tribulations of someone who would like to consider herself a textile artist (amongst other things), but invariably feels quite inadequate! Thursday, January 20, 2011. Entered Dale's (The Thread Studio) competition on Facebook for a pack of Victory rayon threads and shock of shocks.I won! I'm on a bit of a roll, because I won a raffle prior to Christmas and now, this.up until the raffle, I had never won anything. So this is a bit of a surprise. Thanks, Dale!

Twisted Stitcher (Oz style). The trials and tribulations of someone who would like to consider herself a textile artist (amongst other things), but invariably feels quite inadequate! Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Woke up to a very wet morning.the garden is soaked after it rained all night! A perfect day for my birthday present, but more of that later in the week! I'll just have to hope for more rain, to christen them. Links to this post. Monday, April 11, 2011. As usual it never rains, but it pours!

Tuesday, 20 December 2011. Only 5 more sleeps to go.Ho Ho Ho. Gosh the debate about Santa, it's a lot like politics and religion. The debate between the believers and the non believers is amazing among the children. Two little girls came along to sewing and told me that Santa doesn't actually exist but when I said. Are you telling me Santa isn't real? They weren't sure what to tell me. When my bottom lip started to quiver I could see they didn't want to be the barers of bad news and burst my bubble!

Mixed Media/Textile Art of Beverley Folkard. Pages and Sidebar updated 12. 8.16. Sunday Share - 31. 5.15. Well that's another week whizzing by. From the sketchbook, we have this. This just screams deliciousness at me, for all sorts of reasons. Really love the green colour palette combo. But this is all about having played with stitching paper together, why not cut holes in it! I have made pieces which exploit this. Oh look its hearts, same as sketchbook, wonder why. Twisted Stitcher (Oz style). The trials and tribulations of someone who would like to consider herself a textile artist (amongst other things), but invariably feels quite inadequate! Sunday, March 27, 2011. A big gardening weekend! Yesterday, I harvested about 3 or 4 kg of potatoes (kipfler, nicolas and purple) and a good crop of red onions. Pulled out the tomato plants and spread the contents of the compost bins out onto two beds.zoo poo, did for the third! Links to this post. Monday, March 14, 2011.
Inspiration: The poetry of decay

Friday, 26 June 2015. The poetry of decay. So here I am by the sea again, this time in Eastbourne, on this great four-day course with. Christine Chester at Studio 11. To take many photos, but here are a few for starters . Stacks of cards with their first processes - marks, flat 'colour', beginning to distress the surfaces at the end of day one. It's all about layering . And this is the drop sheet - happy accidents always worth saving. More later - I'll remember to take more photos tomorrow! PAINTED QUILT...

Wednesday, 1 February 2012. My book for the Sketchbook Project made it to the post office by the skin of its teeth - 4.15pm yesterday - the last date for postmarking. The theme is. And I decided to narrow this down to the shore/coast line so I could work with an old favourite - after all it was supposed to be enjoyable. Ammonites at Lyme Regis - Brusho and pen on tracing paper. Seascape - acrylic applied with credit card on cartridge. Gulls on a telegraph wire at Dungeness. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Saturday, 11 June 2011. Someone sent me a link to an animated quilt block video by Gayle Thomas - looks a bit like a kaleidoscope, set to music. Its great for those of us interested in pattern and the effect of colour. See the box opposite if you'd like to see it too. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Fleet, Hampshire, United Kingdom. The blog home of Ali George, textile Artist. Monday, 23 February 2015. Making the most of each day . When writing "just a minute" for Down Under Textiles, I focused for a year on what can be achieved in small amounts of time. Just how many minutes each day are opportunities to progress something - perhaps in the rise and fall of hand stitching, completing a binding, sketching, embedding knots? Making a to do list to remind me of those things I absolutely must get done . today. Links to this post. Pattern...

March 3, 2012. Way back last summer I made a book with a very special cover. Totally forgot to blog about it. So, better later than never. The latest book from the lovely Kim Thittichai, Layered Textiles. Includes instructions on how to make faux chenille from painted newspapers. The practice piece was so pleasing to the eye that I turned it into a book cover. Faux chenille book cover. Dabbler in mixed-media with a love of paper, handmade books, and collage. Thursday, 29 March 2018. This Is Everything We Are. I get really irritated when I visit a blog and only find apologies for why there haven't been more posts of late! For that reason we'll gloss over the fact that I haven't been here since January! I have been posting on our DMTV blog so please check that out if you want to catch up with what we've been busy with recently. I also post on Instagram several times a week if you are missing me! In between all that there's DMTV! Yes he did get finished! I love...

I’m an artist who loves to make quilts. I share my time between working in sketchbooks, printmaking and painting, and working on stitched pieces. I love that with techniques such as digital print, fabric painting and screenprinting, I can achieve the same painterly layering of images in my quiltmaking that I so enjoy creating on paper and canvas. Drawing helps you quilt too – after all, whether you work with pencil or thread, it’s all about line, shape, colour and contrast isn’t it?
