Coach Rick: December 2009
http://rick-coachrick.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Happy Birthday to Me. I've decided that it can indeed. For example:. This spring I will be meeting close to 200 new tax clients, bequeathed to me by my retiring friend Don. We have a chance to go on a mission trip to Chile this summer, and have already booked a 40th anniversary Alaska cruise for August. All our lives, we have friends who we say, "Can't wait to see them again." At this point in my life, I really have nothing stopping me from doing just that. December means ba...

Wednesday, April 28, 2010. They Can't Take That Away. They sang "America the Beautiful" and some folk songs, and then there was an announcement that there would be two more songs. A couple of months ago, I gave up political comments for lent, and my blood pressure was so grateful that I have continued that practice. But I have no reservations in saying,. I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free. And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me. Sunday, April 18, 2010.

Sunday, July 4, 2010. As An Athlete, Getting Old. Which brings us to the main outlet available to me these days- running/walking. Even when I was a good athlete, I hated those things! I know there is a "runner's high" that serious runners achieve and can't do without. I don't ever expect to experience that high! I don't do tennis, weights, ski on any surface. I suppose it would be easier if I found someone else in the same situation and we could be miserable together! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Best Life: Grand Turk
http://janabest.blogspot.com/2011/11/grand-turk.html
Monday was our first port stop, Grand Turk in Turks and Caicos Islands. We arrived at port around 7:30 am and I was up early excited to watch us approach land. I went to the gym where I knew I would have a nice view from the front of the ship. Then I made it back to the room to watch the docking process from our balcony. I was amazed to see how smooth and quietly we "landed.". It is amazing how giant the cruise ships are.and ours was a "small one". Our ship in the background. Was it uncomfortably humid?

A few weeks ago Josh came home from work and casually handed me a copy of the Pacific Coast Business Times, a weekly business journal serving Ventura. Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. Anniversary of the award. Many of the award's. Alumni have gone on to accomplish great success (or at least notoriety). One such alum is California's Lt. Governor Abel Maldonado. And. Josh was chosen as one of this year's "40-under-40" award winners! Partner). I quickly realized this was a MUCH bigger deal than Josh h...

The "NO TV" challenge. Lately I have been sick of the way our television watching is affecting our lives. I am not the most disciplined person in the world so it is hard to keep it to a minimum sometimes. Not only is it tempting to let my watching take over, but it's also tempting to let Kaylee watch more than she should so that she is "busy" or out of my hair! Relationships, pride for the way I kept up with house work and thankfulness that I felt rested in the mornings instead of grumpy and irritable!

Happy Birthday, Jesus! Kaylee insisted and kept reminding us for many weeks leading up to Christmas that we needed to bake a birthday cake for Jesus and throw him a party. We kept saying we would, but I am sad to say that Christmas day came and went and we didn't do it! So, on the way home from our weekend away with family, she said, "OH, we forgot to make a cake for Jesus! I think it so cool that she remembered to celebrate him.I guess the fact that it involved eating sweets helped! She wanted to help w...
