Vietnam veteran Mike Bachler opens the doors to the DAV van inside the Lowe's parking lot, the veterans' meeting place for the ride to Augusta, Ga. Over the past month, my classmate Lindy Dugger. A graduate student Christy Fricks. Vietnam veteran Bradford Cullen sits in the front seat of the van. Army Veteran Issom Weems, the commander of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2 and coordinator of transportation in Athens.
