Lions on the Beach: December 2008

http://www.lionbeach.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Lions on the Beach. Gives a whole new meaning to the word slap happy. Friday, December 12, 2008. Gives a whole new meaning to the word "slap happy". This isn't actually news, but the report on the treatment of "enemy detainees" has been released and it's stunning. They literally took SERE instructors and "reverse engineered" their tactics into methods for torturing people. Even broke off into pairs to practice the techniques. So let me get this straight. We found some guys in the military who are pai...

Huckleberry Friend: Big Mistake!

http://huckleberry-rache.blogspot.com/2013/11/big-mistake.html

Random and infrequent thoughts. Monday, November 25, 2013. Yesterday, Sunday, was one of the recurring "continuing hikes" on the towpath. It was in the area beyond Hancock, MD called Cohill Station- that was a station on the now defunct Western Maryland Railway. It was also very very cold. It blew in gusts, unexpectedly. It's still a little funny today. I've another medical appt. tomorrow morning; we'll see what the doc. thinks. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Near Washington, DC, United States.

Huckleberry Friend: January 2013

http://huckleberry-rache.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Random and infrequent thoughts. Saturday, January 26, 2013. I've posted a few photographs of some of the things I saw this month - besides birds, people, sunrises and sunsets. At low tide, the sea leaves behind seagrasses,. Big barnacled pen shells, and many fragments of smaller shells. A close-up shot of a barnacle-covered pen shell. 65279;. I think these are Florida Fighting Conchs, about 2.5 inches. When a very high tide recedes, sometimes these animals are exposed. 65279;. 65279;. People buil...

Huckleberry Friend: October 2012

http://huckleberry-rache.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Random and infrequent thoughts. Monday, October 29, 2012. Days 2 and 3 on St. Cuthbert's Way. There were many things to see - both natural beauties and manmade, and some curiosities. Thistles may be prickly, but in a group they make a swath of gentle color on the hillsides. A deep footpath through quiet and shady woods. This is Pat - she has long legs and walks fast and is usually way way ahead of me. Pat is an old hand at crossing stiles and shows Sandy how it's done. Is it the climate? Dere Street is t...

Huckleberry Friend: July 2013

http://huckleberry-rache.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Random and infrequent thoughts. Saturday, July 20, 2013. Let's Revisit That Reunion. We are so fortunate to have generous and loving children. Perfect example of that are these photos below, some sent to me from Ray, others posted by Lorelei. And, of course, there's a little story for each of them. Big one for lunch - for two of the guys. But before the big red monster was eaten, somebody had to get close for an examination of the creature. If you ever want to have breakfast with Gaby, you need to get up...

Huckleberry Friend: June 2013

http://huckleberry-rache.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Random and infrequent thoughts. Sunday, June 9, 2013. My neighborhood, Sunday morning. My daylilies enhance the end of the parking lot. Realtor's office on the right, Lebanese restaurant on the left. The Westover farmers market runs down McKinley Street. Black Rock Orchard for apples and cider. Are these all cauliflours? The former Walter Reed School, now part of Westover Library. Shells Yes = crabcakes, etc. Grace's Pastries - source of my favorite raisin bread. A bakery for dog biscuits.

Huckleberry Friend: Southwest France - Next-to-Last Tour

http://huckleberry-rache.blogspot.com/2013/11/southwest-france-next-to-last-tour.html

Random and infrequent thoughts. Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Southwest France - Next-to-Last Tour. September 22 - Sunday. Leaving Chateau de Mercues was easily done. There are a lot of very helpful staff. The luggage was driven down to the coach, so we just walked down after a very nice breakfast. Some of my breakfast - - the buffet had quite a grand array of pastries. Such a little milk container, probably intended for coffee; I used it for my muesli. Below in the Lot River there is a very wide lock to a...

Huckleberry Friend: Southwest France - the final tour

http://huckleberry-rache.blogspot.com/2013/11/southwest-france-final-tour.html

Random and infrequent thoughts. Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Southwest France - the final tour. September 23, Monday - - Of course the hotel was comfortable and I awoke refreshed, had a good breakfast, and took a short walk along the river and part of the town of Cahors. The new railway bridge at Cahors. And the older bridge - I don't know how old. Cahors is on the Pilgrim Route, and this brass scallop embedded in the sidewalk tells the walkers they're not lost. Wonderfully casual for dining al fresc.

Huckleberry Friend: November 2012

http://huckleberry-rache.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Random and infrequent thoughts. Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Halfway finished, and across a border. At the border: no customs officials, no border guards, no bureaucracy. Just a stone wall , some barbed wire, and a wooden signpost out in the wide open sky. Occasionally the footpath went into a forest, a plantation, really, of evergreens - - very dark and gloomy. Made me wish for a helmet light like spelunkers wear. Our English friends, whom we first met in Jedburgh after a fiercely stormy night. Flodden 15...

Huckleberry Friend: February 2013

http://huckleberry-rache.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Random and infrequent thoughts. Thursday, February 7, 2013. We learned about Sanibel's Farmer's Market a few years ago. Then it was held on Sunday mornings in the parking lot of one of the 2 or 3 shopping centers along Periwinkle Drive. Not only was it nice to see fresh fruits and vegetables, but also seafood, meats, German and French baked goods, and so on. The famous Honey Bells, and cheap, too. Contrasting colors and shapes; the place where they were grown is listed also. The sign on his smoker reads:.

Smartly Evade the Evil Claw Arrest | 啊中国,啊!

Smartly Evade the Evil Claw Arrest. From my office window, I observed the frontlines of the protesters force their way up and down the main road. Several over-zealous protesters were beaten and detained by policemen. Once the riot police and MPs were deployed, they effectively moved the crowd down Wuyi road, the main avenue of the city, eventually allowing for the free-flow of traffic to resume. Three days later, on September the 18. Comments : 1 Comment. Morning to Night: 4 months, 3 weeks. To be honest...
