Laurence King's blog: May 2015
http://www.laurencekingbooks.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
I love words. I speak them and write them and turn them into books. Friday, May 22, 2015. I've been in a slump—a writing slump that is. It started back in the dead of winter when New England was buried under ten feet of snow. Fine, I said to myself, I'll read instead. Which I did. I thought my muse would perk up with the arrival of spring, but no, she's still asleep with no sign of waking up, other than an occasional twitch. I don't like it one bit. Have you ever acted as if? I dug around for a while (in my mind) to try and figure it out, and here’s what I came up with. This blog is not about winter. (I think my last five are plenty.). I would love to suggest...

Essay – Kelly Garriott Waite. Still Writing in the Margins, Bursting at the Seams. The Red Dress Club:. March 12, 2014. Beautiful and Simple and Unknown. I know who won the Academy Awards. I know who fell, know the names of the designers behind the gowns. I know who ordered pizza, who participated in a giant group selfie, who photobombed whom. But I cannot tell you the name of the bird whose call ushers me down the street twee! A shimmer of water floats upon the creek’s thick ice, grown lacy at the...

Trifecta – Kelly Garriott Waite. Still Writing in the Margins, Bursting at the Seams. The Red Dress Club:. April 23, 2014. February and I’m busy planning my garden, leafing through the seed catalogues, circling more vegetables than my yard can hope to accommodate: Tomatoes and carrots; onions and lettuce. But not asparagus. Never asparagus. No, I will not plant asparagus this year. For if I commit asparagus to this ground, I commit to this place and I give up on my little farm in the country. So,...Note:...
