Passion from a Stone: Fruit – It’s what’s for dinner!
http://passionstone.blogspot.com/2012/10/fruit-its-whats-for-dinner.html
Thursday, October 25, 2012. Fruit – It’s what’s for dinner! I have shared this strategy with quite a few people and a number of times those same people have come back to me to tell me how much they appreciated the idea. So, it must be blog worthy. Right? At least this is the case when you have children of the stubborn variety. I hear tales of kids who always eat everything that they are offered and regularly try new foods…but I believe that they are either myths or outliers. Caveat – we know famili...

Passion from a Stone: November 2011
http://passionstone.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Things I’m looking forward to this long weekend (in no particular order):. 1 – Spending time with the kids while they are surrounded by relatives and friends someplace other than our house. This means that I won’t be multi-tasking on chores while spending time with them and they will (probably) be on their best behavior because of the other people. Also, they will spend time playing with others while I sit and watch (and knit). Also, this post is to remind myself that the cr...

Passion from a Stone: February 2012
http://passionstone.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 25, 2012. Sometimes it is daunting to try to capture a moment in time in a blog post. It is easier when I am remembering an anecdote or talking about a specific topic. But I find it almost overwhelming to summarize an age or summarize what my kids are like “right now”. I do it, because I know it is something that my family and I will value in the future. Heather is five. Five? I went back and read what I wrote last year. Four. Quite a lot of it still applies. There are more movies ...

Passion from a Stone: July 2012
http://passionstone.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 15, 2012. I am not sure what is more sad…the fact that I have only posted once this year. Or the fact that I posted in a timely fashion about Heather’s birthday and not about Todd's. So let’s bring the number of posts for the year up to two by talking about our little man who is now three. There are pros and cons of being a second child. I’m not talking about competitive comparisons, just “isn’t that interesting” comparisons.). Three doesn’t seem as monumental as it did the first time. He ca...

The Spice Rack: and then she was 60.
http://michellelancet.blogspot.com/2012/09/and-then-she-was-60.html
Tasting the spice of life through my adventures in parenting, cooking, gardening, and knitting. Sunday, September 23, 2012. And then she was 60. My mom, that is. I don't think the lady had a party thrown for her since her wedding reception. She should be celebrated. So my brothers and I set out to do so. She wanted a picnic and we tried to give her the best one we could. That pin she is wearing on sweater? Hershey's Perfect Chocolate Cake. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round ba...Stir t...

Capital City Desk: Sea Cake
http://capitalcity.blogspot.com/2015/03/sea-cake.html
Capital City Notes and Gossip, plus Tales from Library Land. Friday, March 13, 2015. I finally used the octopus cake pan I bought at a yard sale . in 2013? Right before the oven died, I guess, which was August 2013. Time flies. Anyway: it seems I need this product I've never tried. The company that makes the pan suggests a oil-and-flour-in-one spray in place of shortening and flour, which didn't work well. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Capital City Desk: Fans
http://capitalcity.blogspot.com/2014/06/fans.html
Capital City Notes and Gossip, plus Tales from Library Land. Tuesday, June 10, 2014. As you know, I've been thinking about fandom. Lately. I read this item. Today; it's about a proposed television version of Lev Grossman's outstanding book The Magicians. Average Viewer. And of course if it worked for the average viewer, it probably wouldn't be anything that outstanding or lasting. Turned out merely pretty good? I keep telling myself that much of the BBC's Merlin. I keep thinking I'm not . something.
