Lisa Scaglione Classical Dressage: Reflections on the German Training Scale
http://lisascaglionedressage.blogspot.com/2012/11/reflections-on-german-training-scale.html
Lisa Scaglione Classical Dressage. Friday, November 9, 2012. Reflections on the German Training Scale. From a classical perspective. Since the German Federation has come to be viewed as either the originators of dressage or the destroyers of it (depending on what 'camp' your in) I feel compelled to comment on the German Training Scale. Strictly speaking, from a classical point of view, the German Training Scale itself is not classical, but the concepts behind it are. My own ideas on the German traini...

Lisa Scaglione Classical Dressage: Dressage & Pseudo-Dressage
http://lisascaglionedressage.blogspot.com/2012/09/dressage-pseudo-dressage_12.html
Lisa Scaglione Classical Dressage. Wednesday, September 12, 2012. When is a Rose by the Same Name No Longer a Rose? And the horse’s back - is it a bow? Related to this incorrect attempt to achieve roundness, is an incorrect attempt to achieve connection. This brings us to the next difference between classical and modern dressage - cessation of the aids. Which brings us to separation of the aids. Next, we come to one of the differences between classical and modern that I find most interesting - relaxation.

Lisa Scaglione Classical Dressage. Saturday, April 6, 2013. WESTERN DRESSAGE, or is it? Teaching the horse to drop behind the contact, while moving with disengaged hindquarters and on his forehand, is pretty well the near exact opposite of the very first principles and aims of Classical schooling. Were riders in general (English as well as Western dressage riders) more diligent about learning what correct Dressage is. Lisa Scaglione Classical Dressage. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Lisa Scaglione Classical Dressage: July 2013

Lisa Scaglione Classical Dressage. Sunday, July 21, 2013. When Lightness Is a Hollow Word. Originally published in 2-parts in Tracking Up. Issues 19 and 20. If the practice of Rollkur forces the horse’s spine to become painfully over-flexed through a misguided effort to force the horse to be ‘round’ through the simultaneous and harsh use of hand and spur, the Raising of the Hand does the exact opposite. By raising the hands high. To force the head and neck up. Is it necessary to literally lift the bit up...

Lisa Scaglione Classical Dressage: My Toughest Training Challenge
http://lisascaglionedressage.blogspot.com/2013/01/my-toughest-training-challenge.html
Lisa Scaglione Classical Dressage. Monday, January 28, 2013. My Toughest Training Challenge. NOTE TO THE READER: I have purposely gone into detail in the hopes that the reader will try to guess the cause of my training problem, and would consider how they might have responded to a similar set of challenges. As is so often the case in life, things are not always as they appear. So what is the moral of my story? April 17, 2014 at 3:50 AM. Or in the way I had imagined. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Lisa Scaglione Classical Dressage. Thursday, August 9, 2012. Art and Sport: The Path vs. The Prize in Dressage. Why is there such an outcry today over the well being of some competition horses? Sense A good competitive rider is also an artist. A classical rider is also an athlete. A horse is first and foremost a horse. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). LA Lack and Design. Tack för besöket. Något i vår Gästbok.

Anything that is forced or misunderstood can never be beautiful.". It is my hope that by sharing the precious knowledge given to me by modern day masters of the ancient art of dressage, I may in some way do my part to keep alive the beauty and purity of the love of riding and of the horse. My blog on Classical Dressage has articles on the philosophy of riding as art, the progressive schooling of the horse, the classical seat, as well as shared knowledge gained through personal experience and reflection.
