Lisa's Photo a week. Sunday, December 31, 2006. I just spent 4 days in beautiful central Queensland. We went to an island paradise by the name of Great Keppel Island. The water there was truly the best I have seen. I even went for a swim in the Ocean (and I am not an ocean swimmer). The water was around the 26 degree mark (80f), and was crystal clear for miles. This photo is a set of deck chairs on the resort that over looks the beach and you can sit there watching the sunset in balmy Queensland evening.

Lisa's Photo a week. Saturday, January 13, 2007. These showers can be found at just about every beach. They used to be part of "a day at the beach". Go for a swim, wash the sand off. I would say now that most of them have been turned off due to Australia being in a terrible drought. Where I live has very tough water restrictions in place. We are not allowed to water the gardens, wash the car or use the hose at all. There are $220 fines if caught doing any of the said things. We need rain really bad.

Lisa's Photo a week. Saturday, January 6, 2007. Since 1907, Surf Life Saving Australia has saved more than 520,000 lives. They are a pivotal part of Australian culture. Most Australians go to the beach, it is our way of life and in the summer time you can find these life guards on the beach all over the place. Lisa's Photo a week. Saturday, January 20, 2007. Something you find at the beach is toilets. No big story today, too hot, too cranky and too tired. Today on Umina Beach it is 39.4c (102.9f) with 12% humidity. It is blowing a extremely hot wind ( 16kms). Even though it's cold, rainy, and depressing here and I long for summer and warm weather, I have to agree that nearly 40 degrees is too hot! I hope you get some relief from the heat soon. It took me several attempts to optimize the composition. I know it's a stretch to list this as addressing the portrait and wildlife goals, but otherwise all it accomplished was vertical orientation. Anyways, hopefully I'll get some better nature photos on some fly fishing outings in the near future. 4/28/7 at 17:14 EDT, Rose River Farm, Madison, VA. Saturday, March 31, 2007. March, week four:. I was able to borrow a telescope from my friend James, and after a bit of fiddling got my camera hooked up. It was a clear night out and there was a great view of the moon. I had first tried this setup two days previously with some decent preliminary results, although I think the images were slightly overexposed (at 1/50 sec! 3/30/7 at 01:41 EDT, my balcony, Charlottesville, VA. Manual focus, telescope on tripod, shutter release, ISO 100, 1/125 sec, shot in raw.

Sunday, May 27, 2007. May, week one:. This beautiful brook trout is the first fish that I caught with my new fly rod. It is a native brook trout (not stocked by the state), and had amazing colors. This is a reasonable followup to my previous blog entry, although photographically it is not the greatest shot. However, keep in mind how hard it is to get this shot! While I could have improved upon this image some more, the more important thing was the immediate understanding of why many of my images have appeared soft in their final form. Photo Heaven

Thursday, February 16, 2012. 2011 was a tough year. There were a few things I had to let go and my blog (which = photography for me) was one of them. So this year I need to get my mojo back. I would not dare to say this is going to be a GREAT year, but it will be. To the year before. I will dust my camera off and get clicking and I will enjoy the pleasure of walking (and not so much the challenge of running). A few pictures from the very reluctant summer we have had down under.
