Little Bird in Great Britain

Tuesday, January 5, 2010. It is COLD here. Now it is snowing. I took these on my first morning back in the UK after having spent a lovely 10 days in California for the holidays. Those are ice crystals growing on a rose in my front yard and a spider's web on my way to work. COLD. California was great. Life is constantly surprising me and I hope for good things this year. How about you? Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Bath, Bristol and Banksy. Damn, am I getting into the lingo or what? Now, back to work!

Little Bird in Great Britain: January 2009

http://www.littlebirduk.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 5, 2009. One of the great things about being at Oxford is that there are a lot of people here who I think are really clever for a variety of reasons. One of my pals from the choir is Hugh Trimble. He is probably my best source of interesting information about the English since I read 'Watching the English'. By Kate Fox (strongly recommended). Hugh recently had a short contribution published in BBC letters that has received a lot of feedback. His letter follows:. Hallelujah, Hallelujah,.

Little Bird in Great Britain

http://www.littlebirduk.blogspot.com/2008/12/i-saw-darwin-exhibit-at-natural-history.html

Sunday, December 14, 2008. I saw the Darwin exhibit at the Natural History Museum. In his pro/con list on whether or not to marry Darwin includes 'a terrible loss of time' on the Pros list by mistake. Eventually he chose to marry his cousin (-Marry - Marry - Marry - Q.E.D.). I think I love this because even here he is being methodical and debating against himself here. It is a more human look at a man whose work I more than admire. This is the question. Forced to visit and receive relations. 8212; cannot...

http://www.littlebirduk.blogspot.com/2009/03/not-all-birds-love-england.html

Sunday, March 22, 2009. Not all birds love England. On the other hand. the weather is lovely today. Hmm how did you find out? March 24, 2009 at 8:37 PM. Well, I hadn't *seen* any hummingbirds and THEN I asked a local biologist and THEN (ever the sceptic) I googled it :). March 25, 2009 at 3:21 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). s e b o u r n: Week 4: The Stuff Of Dreams

http://noahandmelissasebourn.blogspot.com/2013/01/week-4-stuff-of-dreams.html

Occasional insights. Sporadic images. A glimpse into my everyday. Thursday, January 31, 2013. Week 4: The Stuff Of Dreams. This past week, while the girls and I were eating breakfast (if you must know, Eden was eating Fruity Pebbles, Ruth was eating instant oatmeal, Becca was eating grits and I was drinking a diet coke. It's true, sometimes this is exactly what breakfast looks like at our house.) Eden pipes up out of nowhere and relates the following:. Oh, and Dad was with me.". Best Love Note Ever:.

Occasional insights. Sporadic images. A glimpse into my everyday. Saturday, March 2, 2013. Week 9: The Zoo. This past Wednesday, Laura Sebourn brought Gretchen, Calvin and Heidi down from Oklahoma City and we all went to the zoo. It was so much fun - once we finally got there. I blame the GPS. Seriously how could it be my fault that I drove us five miles in the wrong direction? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Best Love Note Ever:. Despair can ravage you if you turn your head around. Occasional insights. Sporadic images. A glimpse into my everyday. Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Weekends are for fun . . . A definite perk of living in Texas is that we are closer to most of our family [sorry Ohio Sebourns]. We are still 1200 miles from my family but that is 650 miles closer than we were while we lived in Wheeling. My in-laws and three of Noah's brothers and families are quite a bit closer, only about 200 miles away. And 200 miles is a good weekend trip. I grew up in a mountain valley of...

http://noahandmelissasebourn.blogspot.com/2013/02/week-7-birthday-cake.html

Occasional insights. Sporadic images. A glimpse into my everyday. Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Week 7: Birthday Cake. Happy Birthday to me! I'm a lucky girl on my birthday because Noah always bakes me a cake. This year it was carrot cake with cream cheese frosting - grandma Hendrickson's recipe. Eden and Becca both thought the cake was delicious, Eden even said that she wants carrot cake for her next birthday cake. On the other hand, Ruth flat out refused to even try the cake! Best Love Note Ever:.

Occasional insights. Sporadic images. A glimpse into my everyday. Wednesday, March 23, 2011. PB and J, Anyone? Friday, March 18, 2011. Happy 7th Anniversary of my 25th B-day. My 25th birthday was the first birthday I celebrated with Noah. He bought me giant double hoop gold earrings. They were awesome and I loved them. He then insisted on calling me "quarter" for the next six months, just to remind me that I was a quarter-century old. Eden chillin w/a piece of green velvet cake. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Occasional insights. Sporadic images. A glimpse into my everyday. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Who Is My Neighbor? Who is my neighbor? That question, so famously posed over 2,000 years ago still resonates powerfully for me. In the days of instantaneousness communication, with the phrases,"social network" and "online community" not just prevalent but nearly dominating the vernacular; the question of "Who is my neighbor? Becomes ever more nuanced. The one where I had the birthday with cupcakes and balloons?

Eden set up this lovely breakfast picnic a couple days ago while I was in the shower! Happy Mothers Day. Noah gathered wildflowers in Arcadia Park and made me this bouquet. Ruthie loving the flowers. I am thankful to spend my Sundays with sweet little ones. I only hope I can teach them as much as they teach me. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Best Love Note Ever:. Occasional insights. Sporadic images. A glimpse into my everyday. Tuesday, October 19, 2010. It's official, we live in West Virgina. We've actually been here since September 4th, but it's just now sinking in for me. My first impressions are good. The area is beautiful. Our house is amazing. Noah's job is fabulous. You might wonder how we got here, all I can say is The Lord works in mysterious ways - but He always works. Friday, October 15, 2010. New pictures by Laurie Terry Photography.

Waldo Oiseau/Cathy Bennett's Little Birdie Travel Journal

Rediscovering New Orleans, Nov 2007. Day 1: Daiquiris, Muffulettas, and Shopping. Day 2: Andre Agassi, Good Food, and Local Music. Day 3: A Pound of Butta and Napoleon. The very first time I saw New Orleans, I was 12 years old and it was a hot and humid July. My parents were attending a week-long conference, so I was shuffled off to the day-camp that was provided. I saw the amazing Audubon Zoo. With its crazy live oaks, and was mesmerized by Oak Alley Plantation. I ate Red Beans and Rice. Walked around w...

Little Bird Trip

Travel like a local. Travel like a local. We spend forty-some weeks a year shackled to our desks and our mobile phone. Travel is our one shot to make all that worth it. So last thing it should be is the same checklist of tourist traps and bad restaurants everyone else has. It should be a parable of hidden treasures and magic moments exploring the best places in the best cities in the world. It needs to be a story so rich you relish retelling it and inspire jealousy when you do. Made just for you.
