A Handmade's Tale: October 2014
http://handmadestale.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, 5 October 2014. For me, it's mostly the time factor that gets in the way of me finishing projects. Well, that and the B word. boredom. Take this project, for example:. I began this project with yarn that a dear friend bought me for christmas. christmas in 2011. Yes, this granny square blanket has been on the go for almost three years. It's over half done, and has stalled and been picked up again many times. I'd love to finish it so I can snuggle under it! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). You know how ...

A Handmade's Tale: Scattered Attention
http://handmadestale.blogspot.com/2016/10/scattered-attention.html
Wednesday, 12 October 2016. I feel as though my focus is really spread rather thin at the moment. In a way, when is it not? But it's particularly acute just now. It's up to the arm holes and split for the back and fronts, and stalled. I want to get it done so I can wear it! And the Josephine shawl which I've been doing for almost as long - over a year, at least. I bought the yarn over 2 years ago, though I don't think I started it instantly. A Handmade's Tale: Women are not things: Mad Max's "Feminist Propaganda"
http://handmadestale.blogspot.com/2015/05/women-are-not-things-mad-maxs-feminist.html
Wednesday, 20 May 2015. Women are not things: Mad Max's "Feminist Propaganda". Last weekend Mr Handmade and I went to see Mad Max: Fury Roads. I haven't seen the first three in the franchise. I don't know how I've missed them; I think my Dad even has them in a DVD box set in their living room, but I've never (to my knowledge) seen any of them. I'm aware of the general idea (cars in a wasteland, and Mel Gibson being a silly action hero). Fine. The premise of the film is pretty simple (spoilers ahead):.

http://rosemarygoround.blogspot.com/2014/11/mondays-musing-give-away.html
A journal of snips and stitches. Monday's musing and a give-away. Tis better to give than receive, is it not? That's why I'm giving away a copy of Tanis Gray's book, 3 Skeins or Less! Leave a comment by midnight, PST, November 5 (Wednesday) for a chance to win! It's a great little book with some fantastic patterns, including my Tanis Shawl. I really loved every minute of designing and knitting this one. The yarn - Heavenly Fingering from The Uncommon Thread. 3 Skeins or Less. Interweave/F W; $24.99.

A Handmade's Tale: December 2013
http://handmadestale.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Monday, 23 December 2013. This post first appeared two years ago on an old blog of mine. I decided to move it over here. I was reading a website recently and a quote caught my eye. Somebody said, 'The hardest thing in this society for a woman to be is not an astronaut or president, it's ugly.'. We are trained to look for what is 'wrong' with ourselves. We are taught to separate our bodies into parts, to chop ourselves up before the mirror. To identify problem areas, and areas that are not problem...I am ...

A Handmade's Tale: August 2014
http://handmadestale.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Monday, 25 August 2014. Literally the worst thing ever. You know what is literally the worst thing ever? You know what's worse than moving house? Moving house four times within one year. Yes, that's right. I moved at the end of last August, the middle of last September, the middle of June and the beginning of this August. Four moves, less than twelve months. I took a trip to London to visit my elder sibling and a dear friend, and the very best train knitting is, of course, socks. Why of course? Recent Pu...

A Handmade's Tale: December 2014
http://handmadestale.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 31 December 2014. I'm not huge on New Year's Resolutions. Actually, the holidays we get around winter time aren't hugely important to me anyway. Christmas is a holiday I have a lot of ambivalence about, and last New Year's Eve, Mr Handmade and I fell asleep at around 10 o'clock and were awoken by my sister at about ten to midnight so we could come and see in the new year with my family. I think that's enough goals for the year ahead. What do you hope will happen in the next twelve months?

Previous post: Episode 131: And the knitting is easy. Next post: A sweater knitting story, in three acts. Episode 132: Epic Bind Off. November 1, 2014. This is Bea’s adorable dress, made using Simplicity pattern 1787, from the Project Runway collection. I want one. Today’s Sweater is Baby Cables and Big Ones Too.
