The Fab Four | There a Chick
https://thereachick.wordpress.com/2017/01/05/the-fab-four
About this chick…. January 5, 2017. Aka Ashley’s Babies… or whatever you want to call them… will be eleven weeks old this Sunday. They don’t really like much, and Ashley raised them with the instinct to hide from everything bigger than them, so getting pics for a decent comparison is hard to do at this point. But I’m going to share some of the recent pics I do have. If you fee like making guesses as to gender, have at it! Max (left) and one of the Dalmies. Max, Felicia and a Dalmie. Liked by 1 person.

Double Dots | There a Chick
https://thereachick.wordpress.com/the-chickens/double-dots
About this chick…. Double Dots or just Dots. Gold Sexlink (Golden Comet). Double Dots started life in a hatchery far, far away and was shipped, at the tender age of day-old to the Tractor Supply in Mansfield, PA, where he was then scooped up and placed into a box with 16 of his little yellow brothers and 3 of his little not-so-yellow sisters… all because Little Dude thought the yellow ones were cute. In the proper order according to their place in the flock hierarchy. Dots in all his glory 🙂. View there...

Freezing Eggs for Later | There a Chick
https://thereachick.wordpress.com/2017/01/04/freezing-eggs-for-later
About this chick…. Freezing Eggs for Later. January 4, 2017. I know I owe everyone a catch up post. All of the babies are getting huge and hard to pin down and the holidays are over. But I’m still swamped with a lot of ‘real life’ issues. Instead, I thought I would address a question that I asked recently by one of my steady egg customers. She asked, “can you freeze eggs for later use? Source: The Incredible Edible Egg. Other Good Sources and Tips:. What To Do With Your Extra Eggs. How to Freeze Eggs for...

Chickens Are Smart. Who Knew? | There a Chick
https://thereachick.wordpress.com/2017/01/06/chickens-are-smart-who-knew
About this chick…. Chickens Are Smart. Who Knew? January 6, 2017. Honestly, to answer my own question – anyone who has raised chickens for more than a year knows how smart they are. BUT apparently, someone decided to do an actual scientific study of them, and has concluded that yes, chickens are smarted than ‘most people’ give them credit for. This study concludes that chickens are behaviorally, cognitively and emotionally complex individuals. Think chicken: Think intelligent, caring and complex. I have ...

The Flock Update | There a Chick
https://thereachick.wordpress.com/2017/01/09/the-flock-update
About this chick…. January 9, 2017. Well, I promised an actual flock update, because I haven’t given one in a while. There’s not much to say about the old ones. They hate the nasty Cold White and some of them are still in various stages of molt. Like Amy,who waited until the week of Christmas to drop all her feathers at once. You can’t see it from this picture, but her entire underside is BARE NAKED. It happened over night. She is currently in the prickly ‘porcupine’ stage. Is this normal molting? Max loo...

The Chickens | There a Chick
https://thereachick.wordpress.com/the-chickens
About this chick…. I’ve been meaning to do this, but with a flock of 30 birds, it’s taken me a couple of years to get to know everyone and their diverse personalities. For 2017, my goal is to add a page or two a month, whenever I can, so that you, my followers, can have a chance to “meet” my flock. 🙂. Pavel(le)’s First Egg. Follow There a Chick on WordPress.com.
