our havenhurst haven: I Heart Homemade Gifts!
http://ourhavenhursthaven.blogspot.com/2011/12/i-heart-homemade-gifts.html
Monday, December 12, 2011. I Heart Homemade Gifts! My sister Janelle made this quilt for Abby for her second Christmas. Still just as beautiful as it was 8 years ago and is on her bed every winter. When the scarf craze caught on several years ago I jumped on board. I got the red and gray from my sis-in-law Crystal and purple scalloped one from good friend Amy. Both are hand crocheted and gorgeous! Don't get me wrong I like store bought gifts too! I'll be the first to admit I don't have the time or energy...

Wednesday, August 31, 2011. A Window into Our Life. See it's working :). Bob backed the window with some cardboard so I would have something to adhere the cork board to. He also installed 4 anchors to the back so it could be hung.yes it's that heavy! I purchased the cork board at Walmart for less than $10 (two packages of 4 squares) Remember we started this before the idea of blogging occurred to me so there aren't many shots but this one was half way into the project. Cardboard and anchors on. I'm start...

Thursday, October 20, 2011. Enter Bob and his last minute creativeness. The night before he spent around an hour making this. He used some markers to draw it out on a piece of painter's canvas we had in the garage then burned the edges and a few holes in it with a lighter. He also used this technique on "costumes" for us. Throughout the day the map got used for the treasure hunt. And a backdrop for photos of each kid in their pirate gear. The photos then got sent to them in a thank you note. I used a cre...

Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Joanie's Junk Part II. I'm back today with even more wonderfulness from Joanie's Junk. How about I let the pictures speak for themselves? I wish every window in my house looked like these. Adorable tree for a small space or even front porch! Perfect for an entry way. Any of this in a vintage kitchen would be perfection. My mom took home the white washed rocking horse! A little twist on the traditional red and green. I'm a sucker for white dishes and couldn't get enough of this.

our havenhurst haven: September 2011
http://ourhavenhursthaven.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 30, 2011. Today is one of those laid back Fridays when I catch myself making an impossible "To Do" list for the weekend. It's usually something like this:. Finish 12 painting projects. Prepare Gourmet meal for whole neighborhood (you know for that fabulous spare of the moment party I'm going to throw). Stay up late watching movies. Then do it all again on Sunday :). In reality I will do the following:. Let the kids have a sleepover. Drink lots of coffee and eat a doughnut. My dirty litt...

Sunday, January 29, 2012. Hi my bloggy friends! It's been awhile. I planned to take some time over Christmas to reflect and that rolled into January and re-evaluating my priorities. Here I am today with a new perspective on my mission as a wife and mother and how I can use my time to turn our home into a haven.that's why I started blogging right? To keep me on task with projects and such. That's still true I just need to make sure I always have it in the right order:. 2) Being a wife to my amazing hubby.

our havenhurst haven: April 2012

Monday, April 16, 2012. I've been feeling creative lately. I don't know if it's the fresh air coming in through open windows, the amazing colors of spring popping up in our yard and all around me or just knocking the cobwebs of winter off but it feels so good. Wanted to share just a little of what I've been up to in the painted furniture area recently. Still trying to decide if this once ashtray stand is now a plant stand or large candlestick? Don't let the photo fool you it stands about 3 feet high.

Rational Living: If You Can't Stand the Heat...
http://rationalliving.blogspot.com/2010/06/if-you-cant-stand-heat.html
Simple choices. Mindful consumption. Self-sufficient practices. Wednesday, June 23, 2010. If You Can't Stand the Heat. You know that scene near the end of The Wizard of Oz. Where Dorothy finally throws the bucket of water on the Wicked Witch of the East and, dripping from head to toe in her drenched black garment, the villainess screams, "I'm melting! Well, that was me at 2:00 this morning. All of this combined lead to my 2:00am outburst of "I'm melting! Last night. According to the thermostat on the...
