When activated, with Hoho and Homunculus in the middle of it, it causes everyone else in Xerxes to die. Homunculus has thus obtained his own body, shaped after Hoho’s DNA – and Hoho who finds out he’s been turned into the (*gasp*) Philosopher’s Stone. The chance that Izumi lives to see the end of the series just increased.
