An American Family in Turkey

An American Family in Turkey. Sunday, June 21, 2009. Monday, June 15. Maren had her end-of-the-year class party today and is truly wrapping up her kindergarten year. Last week the resting mat and cubby contents came home, and now already all she has left is Field Day tomorrow and then the last day of school. Yikes! She's almost a 1st grader! Brian ventured out this morning to Kizilay and did some browsing and buying and then headed home when it started getting too warm out. Sunday, June 14. Then it was t...

An American Family in Turkey. Monday, June 15, 2009. Tuesday, June 9. Maren's class celebrated the end of the year with a picnic lunch at the park near their school today, and I am happy to report that there was no sunburn afterward. But today was a hot one! The auditorium filled up even more, to the point that there were people sitting on laps of people who were sitting on the aisle stairways. I'm not sure we could have left even if we wanted to. I think we were the only non-Turks in the entire audience...

An American Family in Turkey. Monday, June 15, 2009. Monday, June 8. After school we had our rests and naps, the girls got home, and we all headed back over to Cepa for dinner and so Brian could see the photography exhibit. We had a tasty dinner at "Fresh and Hot" and then did some wandering to see the photos and the mall. Brian was brave and took the kids browsing in the toy stores.I shy away from those whenever we go :-). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Friday, June 12 Brians Last Day of School!

Living and Learning

Saturday, July 5, 2014. It's been so long since we've talked. I can't express how much I have missed you. It has been over eleven months since I last wrote. I think I lost my spark. I lost my drive to keep this going. I had no inspiration. But I think more than that I lost myself. I couldn't figure out a way to express what I believe or where I am headed. But today, I found my voice. And I knew that I had something more to say. It was very simple. I was getting my nails done. She felt forgotten about.

Campster living and schooling together. The sun, sand and surf at Corpus Christi and Padre Island. We spent five wonderful days relaxing in the sun right on the Gulf of Mexico. It was made affordable and enjoyable compliments of the U.S. Navy and the Recreation Programs of the Armed Services. There were a few rules to follow – after all we were staying on an busy Naval base – but we enjoyed. Every minute. I didn’t think I’d be as impressed with the base and its workings but I was and I am. We love the wa...
