Aspiring Journalist and Graduate Student Extraordinaire. August 15, 2011. The Hasan II Mosque in Casablanca. The last two months of my life flew by. I really meant to write more, but in reality I found myself with very few opportunities because the program kept me SO busy! Bab Bajloud, Entrance to the Old Medina in Fes. Mad props to all the Muslims of the world fasting right now – it’s NOT easy! I look forward to continued study of the language and many more linguistic adventures in the MENA region.

On September 30 2011, Dr. David Gibbs. Professor of History and Government at the University of Arizona. Gave an important talk as part of the Fall Colloquium Series. Life is a tale told: September 2012

http://lifeisataletold.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Life is a tale told. Sunday, September 30, 2012. My Favorite Experience in Kabul. Other than just because I absolutely love Maryam's family, this was my favorite experience from the summer because it was the only time I was able to spend time with a regular Afghan family and see how they live, what daily life is like. I treasure that experience because I'm well aware that it is one most foreigners would never get in Afghanistan, even in Kabul. Seriously, how could you not love this kid? This blog is an o...

Life is a tale told: April 2012

http://lifeisataletold.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Life is a tale told. Saturday, April 7, 2012. Where I will not be this summer. I didn't get ANY of the three fellowships I applied for, so it looks like I will not be heading to Kabul this summer after all. I could not possibly express how disappointed I am. I was really looking forward to this experience, not to mention the fact that my degree depended on pulling off this project. It was going to be an amazing project, too! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Life is a tale told: Seeing the Sights

http://lifeisataletold.blogspot.com/2012/10/seeing-sights.html

Life is a tale told. Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Soon I'll be leaving for a weekend in DC, where I will be attending the wedding of a longtime friend in Maryland. Add to this the fact that I'm so incredibly socially awkward that at my own brother's wedding last month, surrounded by family and people I've known most of my life, I still spent quite a bit of time either standing awkwardly alone in a corner or following my sister around like a shadow. However, all is not lost! Much to see there! The hardest ...

Life is a tale told: Back from outer space

http://lifeisataletold.blogspot.com/2013/01/back-from-outer-space.html

Life is a tale told. Monday, January 14, 2013. Back from outer space. Clearly I have been sadly neglecting this blog. But in my defense, well, there's been a lot going on. Which really means that I'll start neglecting it yet again as soon as this post is published. As I sit here listening to surprisingly flamenco-like and brilliant Malian music yet utterly unmotivated to get any actual work done, I figure that I might as well blog some updates of my life as it stands right now. Fortunately as a much-need...

living in exile | A Journey of Faith in the Midst of Life's Challenges

A Journey of Faith in the Midst of Life's Challenges. August 21, 2014. It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses. In Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:7-8. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect,. But I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. August 8, 2014.

Living In Extremes

Thursday, March 15, 2018. To All the Moms of Littles. You'll miss these days when they are gone! Some mothers once their children were older. I'm not most women. Which for me, meant up to age five.) After all, the days are long but the years are longer.or something. So here I am, 18 years of parenting under my belt (which I realize means very little). I have five children ages 10 to 18, and now.a baby.again! You can simultaneously long for a different season while enjoying the one you are in. 1) This too...
