Tri-ing to make a difference. Follow me as I train for my first half ironman and raise money to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa! Wednesday, January 28, 2009. The greatest thing about last week was the weather. I rode for almost 2 hours on Wednesday in shorts and short-sleeves! 9 hrs, 59 miles. Swimming: 2 hours, 4550 meters. Biking: 3:21, 41.7 miles (long day - 2:36, 34.2 miles). Running: 1:23, 7.85 miles (long day - :57, 5.45 miles). Hiking: 1:30, 3.5 miles. What do I need to work on? Tuesday, January 20, 2009.

Tri-ing to make a difference. Follow me as I train for my first half ironman and raise money to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa! Saturday, June 20, 2009. Lake to Lake 2009. Well I had a great race! I consider my T1 time one of my greatest accomplishments of the day. Thursday night I practiced taking off my wetsuit and just ended up flailing in my backyard for 3 minutes unable to get my legs out. Then I came across this slowtwitch.com post. And it helped tremendously! The last mile is annoying because you wind a...

Tri-ing to make a difference. Follow me as I train for my first half ironman and raise money to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa! Wednesday, August 12, 2009. Half Ironman (Boulder Long Course Triathlon) - race recap! Wow, training for this race has been a big part of my life the last 8 months and now it's over! Honestly, I'm a little glad for a break! I was pretty happy that I didn't have to walk much, just 30 seconds at every few aid stations. The last couple of miles I ran by several people (men and women)...

Life Out West: February 2012
http://adawgincolorado.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Staying sane and living the good life at 5000 feet. Sunday, February 19, 2012. Yes, it's true - we're moving to England! For the second time in my life I will be living in jolly England*. I've taken a post-doctoral research position at the University of Exeter. I'm really excited about the work and who I'll be working with, and Chris and I are excited about the adventure of living abroad for a while. Saturday, February 4, 2012. Our cat Nora had surgery to remove a mass of rubberbands in her stomach.
Life Out West: July 2011

Staying sane and living the good life at 5000 feet. Sunday, July 31, 2011. Just when I am feeling super tired or worn out, something will bring a smile to my face. Either that, or I will give up and take a nap! For instance, one night last week, as I was feeding Emmaline, she reared her head back and let forth a massive projectile vomit all over me and her. It was EVERYWHERE! And then we were all smiling and having a ball. Who knew I could be so happy while covered in spit up? Chris and I took Emmaline o...
Life Out West: March 2012
http://adawgincolorado.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Staying sane and living the good life at 5000 feet. Sunday, March 25, 2012. Emmaline was baptized today. The weekend has been consumed by this event. All day yesterday we cleaned the house, a task made somewhat easier by the eminent move. Don't know what to do with something? Eh, just throw it away, we'll be gone soon anyway. This is probably the least cluttered the house has been in years :). Meanwhile, Emmaline mastered drinking out of a sippy cup yesterday! Recently Emmaline is really getting into mus...
Life Out West: What the heck are we still doing in the U.S.???

Staying sane and living the good life at 5000 feet. Tuesday, April 10, 2012. What the heck are we still doing in the U.S? Some of you might be asking this question. Didn't I get some job in England? Well - yes, and no. I was offered the position, but due to some visa annoyances, I don't actually have the job yet. If this sounds confusing - it is. Then I'll re-interview (I'm guessing this will be informal), and be hired (if that doesn't happen I shall commence Revolutionary War II). April 14, 2012 at 10:1...
Life Out West: November 2011
http://adawgincolorado.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Staying sane and living the good life at 5000 feet. Friday, November 18, 2011. I'm processing some results and was reminded by a friend of mine that I haven't posted pictures of the Cute One lately. Although she is about to wake up, so I might not get much up, but here are a few gems from the past month:. She is getting really good at holding her head up, and also enjoys checking out the baby in the mirror from time to time. Lately Chris has taken to giving our daughter a fauhawk. Life Out West: Another frightening look into my life ...
http://adawgincolorado.blogspot.com/2012/03/another-frightening-look-into-my-life.html
Staying sane and living the good life at 5000 feet. Friday, March 23, 2012. Another frightening look into my life . 7:42 am - In my attempt to make eggs for Chris and I, I accidentally poured the eggs down the drain. Oops - at least I had already cooked some yolk for Emmaline (apparently babies are possibly sensitive to egg whites. Emmaline loves the yolk, which is great except Chris made up a creepy song about babies eating babies). Feeling kind of moronic at the moment . 4:31 pm - To add to the futilit...

Staying sane and living the good life at 5000 feet. Thursday, January 26, 2012. 8220;This is where we can be the people we were meant to be.”. Then I got a job at Peleton Cycles – which helped escalate my interest in cycling into a full-fledged addiction J. Note: if reading a whole post about breastfeeding makes you uncomfortable, stop here :). Now I can afford to spend more time doing the things I enjoy, like exercising, sleeping, or playing with Emmaline. I will miss my podcasts though, which is ho...
Life Out West: September 2011
http://adawgincolorado.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Staying sane and living the good life at 5000 feet. Tuesday, September 20, 2011. My life has taken on a bit of a personality disorder. On one hand, I enjoy what I do and the people I work with, so I was somewhat looking forward to getting back to work. I'm making some progress again on my dissertation, after a couple of weeks slow-down due to idiotic supercomputers and buggy code. Sometimes when I come home I tell Emmaline what I've been working on. She doesn't even pretend to care:. Life is good today .

Living the Tree Change. Just another WordPress.com site. Spring is in the air. August 29, 2011. I love this time of year! I walk down the paddock to my chickens in the morning and the air has lost its icy chill, the plum and apple blossoms are in full bloom, and leaves are budding on all the deciduous trees so much promise! Who was I trying to kid? August 17, 2011. But with all these chickens came trouble. Originally they free-ranged happily across our little acreage. They lived the good life all...8217;...
