Half a Kilogramme of Well-Crottled Greeps. Wherein I charge headlong out of the broom closet. Jan 23rd, 2014 at 7:00 PM. As I noted a while back, the City Council here in Huntsville, AL, normally opens its meetings with an invocation, and they got a cease-and-desist letter from the Freedom From Religion Foundation asking them reasonably nicely to stop doing that, with the not-too-veiled threat of a lawsuit if the city declined to comply. And here is the text I used:. 5 comments Leave a comment. 5 comment...

House of the Black Cat. Will this make sense? May 6th, 2015 at 12:43 AM. Perhaps someday I'll understand how you pay for a college education, but then skip classes and do a half-assed job on the classwork . but I doubt it. Meanwhile, I find myself wondering what a couple of students could have done if they gave a damn. Solid" by Ashford and Simpson. 1 comment Leave a comment. May 7th, 2015 01:36 am (UTC). Not in character - The Rush Limbo Show. Oct 20th, 2007 @ 09:35 am. I'm sorry to say that I'm breaking character for this post. I haven't had much time for this journal (as if it wasn't obvious). The main reason I even logged on was to be able to post something to the journal of one of my favorite authors of all-time, Patricia Keneally-Morrison. Who's just sent off her latest book to Lulu.com (guess I got all excited, although it's not ready for order yet). October 25th, 2007 05:06 pm (UTC). I cannot adeq...

Blurry Books: oh yeah, I forgot
http://blurrybooks.blogspot.com/2011/03/oh-yeah-i-forgot.html
Words and Pix by Michael Rosenthal. Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Oh yeah, I forgot. Spent the morning at MoMA, checking out Picasso's guitars. I noticed that the newspapers collaged into the first couple of constructions had headlines about violence - a murder or such. As best as my eyesight, flexibility and inferior French can make out, almost all of the newspapers were cut up to include violent stories, especially about the conflicts that would lead up to World War I. Blurry Books: Franzen, Freedom, Corrections
http://blurrybooks.blogspot.com/2011/04/franzen-freedom-corrections.html
Words and Pix by Michael Rosenthal. Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Franzen, Freedom, Corrections. Jonathan Franzen is way overhyped. I thought The Corrections was pretty much the minimum of what a decently-regarded book should be, not an exemplar of the best being written. What a lot of hurt and hope and tenderness there. But it's always narrated rather than written. Tired adage about showing, not telling.). OK, there it is, ha ha, how frustrating. But why not strip the explanation away:. Maybe Franzen's gif...

Ten have lost. Slatecom and washingtonpost.com]. If she runs in 2012, and I think that "if" is looking weaker and weaker, she'll have tons and tons of advertising and astroturf support, thanks to oil infrastructure billionaires. And the Citizens United victory in the Supreme Court. Links to this post. I was dea...

Words and Pix by Michael Rosenthal. Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Different stuff, same bucket? Two (at least) interesting developments in the rollout of Obama 2012: the Justice Dept will stop defending DOMA against constitutional challenges (yay, gay people, and lesbian people, and straight people, and bi-people, and trans- and cis-gendered persons of all kinds!
