THE VINEYARD and WINE. The Estate – Plas Llaethliw. The first recorded family to reside at Llaethliw were descended from Rhys ddu Sgweier Digri to Cadifor ap Dinawal. Lewis Dafydd and Jane, his wife, had a son Hugh Lewis. The marriage settlement in 1716 of John Lewis, the son of Hugh and Anne Lewis and Magdalen Jenkins, his first wife, included Plas Llaethliw. Having tasted a really good red at Llaethlliw, we were ready to check if the Red Kite at Kerry Vale was ready yet! Geoff had told us it was nearly ready on our visit last time. And it is already on the website so we decided we had to go and try! If you remember this too had been oaked so we were eager to try it particularly as we had just sampled arguably the best red so far!
