There was a tiny piece of rejoicing round Daily Growl way today at the news of a new album from Canadian songstrel Basia Bulat. Londoners: Basia is playing a one-off London show at Cafe OTO on 25 November. Her live appearances over here have been pretty limited so far, so a gig in a great East End venue is a sweet thing indeed. A New Band a Day.

Kalico Queens: January 2009

Saturday, 31 January 2009. Long, long has the art of remixing produced either absolute genius or absolute cack. The former surely has to describe SebastiAn's. Remix of "I Still Remember". Taking a simple, stylised electro. And the juxtaposition of. Kele's slightly strained vocals over the top whilst simple, lyrical refrains battle across the top means that a dance floor. Friendly classic has had a revamp for the better. Adding to this DiscoTech's. Rolling Stones rework, Soulwax's. Beatles vamp, MSTRFKT's.

Sunday, 10 May 2009. Dressed to Digress" matches Bowie for cut-and-paste lyrics with a sexually charged sub-plot. You're the shit, girl" is the refrain- Woodrow Wilson is cited and the lyrics run, hop, jump and charge straight into the brain like an acid induced vision. How electro should sound. New Music. Old Music. Live Music. A good day for new album news. Wednesday, 2 November 2011, 18:09 Category : Good new stuff. You know the story these days; a new album announcement accompanied by a free taster song. It works nicely for me, but often these things come along like buses. So over the past day there’s been news of three potential belters coming out in the next few months. First up, Field Music. A band that I’ve [.]. There are no comments. Another quick word with… Dan Michaelson. Song, By Toad.

Five Believers: August 2007
http://fivebelievers.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 8 August 2007. Hang Me Up To Dry. It's nice to have stuff to look forward to but I seem to be a bit spoilt for choice at the moment. Perhaps I deserve it this week though as I managed to get paint in my eye (and everwhere else) while doing some decorating. It's not the most pleasant experience although it did leave me looking like a kind of reverse-but-equally-scary-Clockwork Orange Alex with one very white eye which was quite fun. Unless you're a Leeds. Anyway, on my way to Edgeley Park.

Thursday, 26 April 2007. Save all of your kisses cos Mr I'm your Mrs. So I'm a bit of a fan of Glasgow. Really a combination of the people, the accent, the Botanic Gardens. the Clyde, sledging in Rouken Glen, the buses, the Art School, the West End, Ibrox and a love of pretty much all the music its produced during my lifetime. On the way it shouldnt be long before we hear back from them. Not to be outdone, assorted girlfriends and chums of the aforementioned Bricolage have gone on to form The Royal We.

Five Believers: July 2007
http://fivebelievers.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Friday, 20 July 2007. When critics look back on the musical output of the last year what will it be remembered for? Most probably for Klaxons. Multi-coloured, synth-bashing, self-shitting explosion into the mainstream along with a host of other indie-dance acts like SMD. Being the only record I could truthfully say I have heard, enjoy, continue to enjoy and feel deserves to win. The Cribs woz robbed! Bat For Lashes - Priscilla. Lucy And The Caterpillar. Never fails to put a smile on my face so you should...
