LoVe Eating

UK peas and beans. This blog is being replaced by www.LVE.org.uk. Beanfeast 23rd September 2012. LoVe Eating, a Sunday in September 2012, Muswell Hall. Here is Gemma setting out the food. About 20 people came along and the focus was primarily UK grown pulses: field beans, yellow split peas, green split peas and marrowfat peas. This was the first time LoVe Eating was held in a public setting and it worked really well. I forced myself to test them all. The bay liqueur and the mint one were my favourites.

LoVe Eating: Food Snobbery

http://locavoreveganeating.blogspot.com/p/food-snobbery.html

UK peas and beans. This blog is being replaced by www.LVE.org.uk. The whole of our food culture is riddled with snobbery and irrational distinctions that need challenging! People buy rocket, capers and chicory (. Roadside weeds) while carefully removing home-grown weeds from their gardens. And Cavalo Nero is gourmet fare, but cabbage and turnips? Yet peas are the nourishing superfood that sustained English common folk for centuries. Survive on local pulses/weeds. Go abroad on holiday. Let's give our home...

LoVe Eating: On the Pulse

http://locavoreveganeating.blogspot.com/2012/09/on-pulse.html

UK peas and beans. This blog is being replaced by www.LVE.org.uk. Tasty, versatile, nutritious, cheap. Kidney beans, haricot beans, pinto beans, butter beans, adzuki beans, mung beans, lentils, gram, broad beans, field beans, split peas, marrowfat peas, chickpeas, cowpeas, black-eyed peas, blackeye beans, pigeon peas, baked beans…]. Many emails & phone calls later I was more puzzled. I don’t buy imported potatoes and apples, so why would I choose imported peas over local? Case study - SUMA. It tells me t...

LoVe Eating: Local vs Organic?

http://locavoreveganeating.blogspot.com/p/local-vs-organic.html

UK peas and beans. This blog is being replaced by www.LVE.org.uk. And the only route to this is to support local farmers and encourage them to adopt organic farming practices. Organic farming may be more environmentally sound but importing staple foods from China and Canada that we could grow in the UK is no way to tackle Peak Oil …. It doesn’t matter how charming you are, you’re never going to persuade a Canadian famer to be more local. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Beanfeast 23rd September 2012.

Why am I doing it? The gift of a guild. Last week, I went to the first meeting of a ‘new’ diploma peer guild. A guild being in this case ‘an association of people for mutual aid or the pursuit of a common goal’. In other words, a bunch of diploma students coming together to support and inspire each other. When I started my diploma, … Continue reading →. LOVE eating….Sushi. The ethics and me. I like to think my values align to the ethics, but do my actions … Continue reading →. These are my pants. Why am I doing it? I am currently doing my Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. I completed my Permaculture Design Certificate with Patrick Whitefield. Which was nothing short of life changing. I have chosen to go on to do the diploma as a way of giving structure to some permaculture project ideas. It’s also a good way to connect with people in the permaculture community,to share and learn, and to give something back. The gift of a guild. LOVE eating….Sushi. The ethics and me. Why am I doing it? It’s important for me to be clear about why, what and how I am evaluating this design. I am evaluating to make sure I am achieving the aims of the design; to demonstrate that I am meeting the criteria; to reflect on my learning and be aware of my progression; to make any changes to ensure the successful implementation of the design; to be able to use successes and lessons within this and future designs.
