I didn't get any good photos of my tent when we went to Goblin Valley at the end of May, but it was in perfectly fine working order. It's that green one in the middle. I keep thinking that sometime "soon" I'll be less busy with obligations and I'll be able to do what I want without pressure to rush it. Because I am doing what I want (editing and making things), but I'm doing it with a lot of deadlines, which makes me feel like every moment I spend not doing those things is a moment I'm wasting and shirking responsibility. In which I work. I got a new job! Not a "dream job," but it fulfilled my requirements. Less driving, not with food, making more than twice of my previous job, no homeless people to deal with, not outside. I don't have to deal with the weather. I can do my hair how I want. In which I need a job. Again. Just found out that my department is closing in less than a month. So time for me to start panicking and job hunting again. I hate job hunting! And only a month. And no savings to sustain me this time. Am I screwed or what. Time for me to be sad about my inability to make a living off any of my arts. I'm envious of those who can. How do they do it? Some kind of social alchemy? I can barely give my work away, let alone make a living with it. Always having to stress about money.

In which I discuss fashion. I have a bunch of weird fashion rules for myself. I don't wear any shades of brown, yellow, orange, gold, or pink. A few very rare and special browns exist in my wardrobe, and sometimes orange sneaks in as an accent color. I don't wear things that cut off at the ankle. Pants need to go down to the foot or be significantly shorter. Shoes either higher than ankle or exposing top of foot. Ankle socks are right out. I don't wear high heels. It's not like I consult a checklist ever...

In which I need a job. Again. Just found out that my department is closing in less than a month. So time for me to start panicking and job hunting again. I hate job hunting! And only a month. And no savings to sustain me this time. Am I screwed or what. Time for me to be sad about my inability to make a living off any of my arts. I'm envious of those who can. How do they do it? Common dream themes for me:. My teeth suddenly start rotting and falling out all at once and I desperately brush them like that will fix it (it doesn't). Needing to use the bathroom in public but can't find one that's clean and/or private. Reasons I like my job. Of course there are things I don't like, but for the sake of being positive:. I can listen to my own music. It's easy, straightforward, and stress-free. No work follows me home. No talking, no chitchat, no meetings. Really few people in my area and we all mind our own business and do our work. My super is easy to talk to for clarification and directions. I get enough money to pay for everything I need to pay for. Only 5 hours per day keeps me sane. I can get free lunch if I want it.
