Thoughts of a Happy Nerd. Laquo; Imber Church. This is another of my early web pages from 15 years ago. I had a section I called flowers which included blooms and rivers. So here we go! One crossword book I once had always fooled me by calling rivers flow-ers. Even now I’ll cheat and include buildings for rivers include water mills. I love them! My first river is in France. This was one of the first and entered service in 1872. Like other members of the class it was named after a location in London and was called Fenchurch. Thoughts of a Happy Nerd. Laquo; Mum and Dad 1958. No, I certainly don’t mean a holy pebble. Nor do I mean a pebble which is wholly a pebble. I mean one with holes through it. This little pebble, not much more than a centimetre in size in any direction was picked up in the Isle of Wight last month. I had this idea that if I brought it home it might remind me to find out what created five little holes right through this small beach pebble. Let’s flip the pebble over. So what makes them? Imber, of course, was a village in the middle of Salisbury Plain which was taken from the residents during World War II and never returned. There are also graves. Thoughts of a Happy Nerd. Laquo; Newhaven Harbour Company. Mum and Dad 1958. My parents had clearly got dressed up for this occasion. Dad has a suit and a bow tie. Suits he wore. The bow tie comes as a bit of a surprise. Mum has a lovely summer frock and a neat, small handbag. It isn’t the sharpest of images but it gives me a memory of my mum in colour. She looks happy. Well both of them do. And that inconveniently designed semi (on the left) was the house I spent most of my childhood in.
